The start is interesting, but then....... possessed by Dracula/Jack the Ripper? It turns out to be just another exorcism movie. There was just one scary moment, the rest is below average. I can't recommend this one.
Over the years there have been many big budget Hollywood films that focus more on visual effects than the story. What I like about low budget independent cinema is the fact that without the money, you have to rely on the story and the talent to make a decent film. This is the case with The Devil came home. I thought this is a great little film. The writing is great and the direction is really, really good. The tension is slowly built and the film keeps you hooked from beginning to end. The performances from the actors/actresses are good and each character is portrayed really well. I can imagine that with a Hollywood budget behind him, the writer/director could really make some entertaining movies that would stand well alongside some of the horror classics.
Finally a great British horror, although the budget was not huge, the movie was shot absolutely fantastically, the actors portrayed each character so well. The story is a great possession horror, which shows if someone is mentally weak they are susceptible to the dark forces to overcome them. Hats off to the director for a great story which shows the background story was well researched.
For a low budget film the acting is good and has elements that could make this film a real winner. It is refreshing to see new faces on the scene and was better than some higher budget films with known actors. I would have perhaps liked to have seen more story evolving around the main characters PTSD that was mentioned and exploring this avenue perhaps linking the split personality to the trauma he's experienced in war. Thus creating more of a psychological fear instead of typical horror clichés such as possession and dracula types that have been many times before. However this is only a mere opinion and there are many out there that like this style of horror. Overall good job !
First off: this seems a bit low budget. But the movie developes suspense and gets his viewers keep watching. Weakness is, for example, the well-known plot and the abrupt ending. I liked it, tough it was a b movie.
