I have seen it at Internet Streaming by Australian Japanese Film Festival right here in Melbourne. The story depicting about the three high school students whose has builded up their interest at 8mm filmmaking life by step to step to capture the smooth plot unfolded. Surprising enough, the unusual differical way of arrange the filming tactic around them to make more closer at each others with learning the common mistakes in the filmmaking field which does generally pulls you in. The 10 mins 8mm short movie is well-presented in it's entirely inside the classroom is a real bonus presentation. A big PLUS.

Single8 is a perfect combination of filmmaking, science fiction, and high school cultural festival, blended into a beautiful, cozy coming-of-age story. The movie itself says every film should carry a message for the viewer at the end along with the evolution of the character(s) between the first and last scenes. It showcases everything that is outspoken as mere words, into action - with memories and a poignant message at the end. What I really liked above all was how the characters built up the story block by block, from a simple idea emanating from Star Wars to the grandeur of a Sci-Fi odyssey. The makers gave credit to the movies that inspired them to tell this visual story in the end as well. A closed cycle by all means - and, one that will remain close to my heart forever. Thank you, JFF, for bringing this beauty into my life.

Single8 is a well written movie with cozy vibes. It revolves around the coming of agd story of Highschooler in Japan as they work together on a class project which is a movie inspired by Star Wars. There's no cheesy, lame high school drama or tropes that you would normally see in this type of movies. Instead you have a well thought out film that also acts a primer on traditional Japanese practical visual effects. In fact, there are parts of this movie that made me feel like I was watching a documentary on Japanese Sci fi film making technology. Overall it was a wonderful film and I highly recommend it.
