I usually check IMDb ratings before watching a Horrorfilm I am unfamiliar with. There is just too much trash out there specifically in this genre. So if the rating is below 5 stars I just skip the movie. But this one would deserve a much better rating. It is definitely not a masterpiece nor a outstanding movie but it is decent entertainment. I would rate like this: Story: 6/10 Scares: 5/10 Look: 8/10 (love this moody photography) Acting: 6/10 CGI: 5/10 If you are looking for the next level Adrenaline horror flic - this one isn't for you. If you are looking for no genre clichés- this film is not for you. But if you want to be entertained, fancy nice aesthetics and ghost stories - go ahead and watch it. You won't be wasting your time!

I bought it because of the artwork on the sleeve, and the fact that i read that they tried to make a original haunted house movie. So what did i learn, don't judge a dvd on it's cover. Even if it looks great, and don't always believe what you read. Gosti bored the crap out of me, it's a mediocre horror flick with a couple of idiotic teens who are looking for a place to party. Oh no there's CGI mold growing on the wall, omg there are two ghosts that stare at me. Sorry for the sarcasm, i love horror but this whole attempt at making a haunted house film is just one big boring failure. Just skip it, go re-watch Hereditary instead.

The movie begins quite intriguing ... and then chooses to throw that all away and come to ... well now and a different set of characters and a different story. While it is nothing new to set up something in horror and then let it pay off in a different time, I seldom have felt that it shouldn't have done that and just stick with the original prelude - stay there and tell that story. I think it would be way more interesting if this movie did that. But that is me. Overall technically the movie is quite decently made. The effects are ok and the actors try their best too. Add some scary scenes (though as mentioned, none match the eerie feeling I got from that first encounter) and you have a subpar movie, that might tickle you or not ... I've seen worse, but also way better movies too

"Gosti" is a Russian horror flick that's not awful but does have a very conspicuous, shortcoming. The most obvious weakness in this film, is its really not that scary. That's no small flaw in a film built firmly on the notion of frightening the audience. It lacks that sense of creeping, mounting horror and fails to balance that deficit, with jump scares. Indeed, I only jumped once in the whole film. So what you are left with is more an interesting tale of lost love and haunting, with a mildly devilish twist. Its well acted and the special effects are reasonable, if unremarkable. In summary, this is a an OK watch. Its not dull but I do suspect it will disappoint those looking for hardcore scares. 5/10.
