Beautifully written and acted story about loneliness and its many forms. All families have estrangement and unresolved issues that follow us through life. The main story is of an adult woman (and her shy 8-year old son) who must clean out her sister's home after she dies. In doing so, she must contend with the remnants of a life her sister never knew she led. Brian Dennehy is so touching as the lonely widowed neighbor who befriends the lonely child and his mother. Much more to this gem of a movie that serves to highlight so many things about regret, friendships we never would expect, and love it it's endless forms. Extremely touching and poignant movie, definitely a MUST see.

This is one of those rare films that feels and looks timeless every character feels real and relatable. This very understated film has many emotional moments that don't make you feel manipulated and are very much earned, all the actors from the child actors to the walk on parts do not deliver any false notes. Finally yes this was the last film of Brian Dennehey as I understand it and I think towards the latter part of his career he was very under utilized and this reminds us of what a true one of a kind talent he was.
