I enjoy watching undersea documentaries. The sea life they feature is so beautiful and exotic that it is fascinating to watch. This movie does have a lot of beautiful undersea footage, but it has a few big problems that make it less interesting than most, similar documentaries. First, much of the sea life seems really focused on a few areas of the reef. As a result, the animals are very similar and not very interactive. There is one sequence where two crabs are supposed to be in conflict, but it really just seems that two crabs were in the same place at the same time. Second, and a more important issue, is that the environmental message distracts from the footage. I think that an environmental message can work well in this type of documentary, but it is so artificial in this movie that is doesn't work.
