Successful comedy tv shows into film never usually works but this has some Laugh out loud moments and some touching moments too. It wasn't the best but certainly not the worst. I wonder if the low ratings just don't get it?? It's worth a watch for a laugh when there is so much misery around.
Love Catherine Tate and love nan. Great to see her beck. Genuine connection between her and Matthew Horne. Some real Laugh Out loud moments . Especially the last ten minutes which was hilarious. Loved it.
If I could have given any less than 1 star I would have. The only funny bit was at the end. Even the Cinema gave up on the film as the lights went up before the end credits. That's 2 hours ( with the adverts and trailers)I'm never getting back.
The last 10 min was funny but until then it was very poor with bizarre cartoon pieces randomly interspersed. The best parts were the flashbacks to 1940.
Ignore negative reviews and make up your own mind. This was way better than it's been made out to be. Went with five other people. All of us loved it. I can't remember the last time I laughed as much! It's light hearted fun but what's better - it has real heart running through it. Brill stuff! Yes I agree the animated bits are a bit odd but they're designed that way, are explained, and help with some of what would be bigger budget bits! Don't expect Oscar wins (although I rate it!). Just have fun with it. Thanks Catherine Tate for brill laughs. Made my month :)
Yes, some bits were iffy, and age wise man would be over 100, calculating from the flashbacks... It's a film with laughs and a few sad bits. But it had a point to the story 'blood is thicker than water' Yes the police officer wouldn't have had jurisdiction and yes 'ban' wouldn't have been able to sleep all the way across the Irish Sea in the van on the ferry. Take thinkg at face value and just enjoy it. There was a couple of reviews on here mentioning it should have been made 10 years ago. I agree there. The Nan character was more prominent then. The Christmas Special - Nan's Christmas Carol (2004) got 7.4 on IMDb - I had the privilege of being in the audience for the live recording. I noticed one continuity error, which quiet honestly is rare for a film. Sit back and enjoy!
Catherine Tate brings the crude, rude, fowl mouth nan to big screen. The film as a story and we see nan from baby to the sweet ban we all love The laugh do come fast, but also she tries to show nans soft side The road trip adventure is fun.
I would give it minus views if you could do it on here because it was just that bad.i watched Catherine tate on bbc and loved it when she played the nan character but this movie was nothing like the TV show and it has been totally stripped back for cinema and you cant do nothing to rude anymore in this snowflake world we live in.
