I can't believe someone would spend money to produce such a flop from any point of view. It is so bad (incredibly bad acting, soundtrack that did not fit at all to the plot - although there was no plot, actually - boring, empty dialogues, cheap casting and scenography) for a moment I thought it was a joke, a 1st of April, a candid camera. This "movie" should be removed not just from Netflix (@netflix: really? We pay you money for this kind of cheap non sense?!), but also from the records of movie making. We waited for anything to happen and then after one hour (of wasted time!) gave up. Watching commercials is more fun and intriguing.

The Matchmaker is a film that stays with you even after it has ended. The atmosphere is eerie and unsettling while the scenery is lovely to look at. The premise of the film, the way women are treated in society is a thought provoking one and this movie handles it well. The actors all do a great job here and the musical score really helps add mood to a film that is already suspenseful and at times, downright unsettling. The movie manages to convey a creepy feeling that is perfect for this film. This is a movie that needs your full attention and even though some people thought the pace was too slow. I thought it was appropriate in order to allow the story to draw the viewer in. This is a movie that will be a treat for those who love a suspenseful mystery with real atmosphere and solid acting.
Where was the plot long enough for a movie? It could have been a 30 min. Episode without all the starring, slow moving, no action whatsoever. The music was irritating with no purpose to what was transpiring. Low budget made with virtually no actors with any acting skills. One of the worst movies I've ever seen. I've never seen an Arabic movie until this one, and it doesn't compel me to ever watch another one. What was the purpose of the movie? You'd have to be a mind reader to figure out if there was any thought process when the made the production. Not even anything interesting the culture . Do not watch unless you want a snooze fest.
The Matchmaker is a slow Psychological Thriller where a faraway resort is specifically designed for cheating/abusive men, promising them what they seek. The mysterious hotel then proceeds to have them trapped there. The legend has it, an ill treated woman cried for help which fell into deaf ears and only was heard by a strange creature which not just took revenge on her abuser but also cleansed his soul and returned him back to be her slave. She now runs this resort. How does the protagonist survive his fate forms rest of the story. The pace often tests the patience and the proceedings too are extremely slow as well as less captivating. It does start of on a decent note with the introduction of Tarek the IT guy in a boring marriage, seeking something exciting. He gets infatuated towards his co-worker and follows her to this resort. He clearly was the wrong man in a wrong place. From here on, the film gets less and less interesting. The final act revealing Salma's change of mind too lacks any impact. It still is a decent idea, just the way it is executed fails to work.
