The Last Son

The movie was found lacking in many different ways; one would be the acting was sub-par, the dialog was unrealistic for the time period and pointless. There were scenes that never move the movie forward as they too were pointless and confusing leaving you wonder why they were included. There was no character development and no reason to cheer anybody on. Not one single character in this movie went through any sort of a character arc or transformation. It appeared like the movie was a conglomeration of all the cutting floor scenes slapped together. They were trying to move the story along through scenes without dialogue. But those very scenes were pointless in themselves and adding nothing to the story. This is an instance of where the trailer was better than the movie.

Well done western style movie. Machine Gun Kelly surprised me... probably one of the more believable characters. Acting was good. Way too predictable though..

This is the kind of stuff that you make when you have no clue or no ideas of what you want to do. This is the result of putting together some random crap and call it a movie. Pathetic...just like almost anything else made these last couple of years.

Positives: Interesting story, attempt at cinema verite techniques noted, the nature scenes without a competing soundtrack were actually nice. Negatives: simple story, poorly told. Badly lit interior scenes, mumbled lines by multiple characters, heather graham is a prostitute, again, grossly misused, her time wasted. Couldn't stay in movieland because I had to ask my husband what was happening. Why? Because though the story and plot was known, I really couldn't hear dialogue and or see faces well enough to figure out who was who. Couldn't venture out of the room for 30 seconds of pour over and not be lost. All the competing male leads paid the same dialogue coach for 'I wanna be a non deaf Rooster Cogburn, but otherwise cool like Jeff Bridges' lessons, by way of Demosthenes. I could hear dialogue and not know who spoke it because of bad lighting, artistic editing attempts muddled everything. Nice try but meh for lack of building tension and denoument, poor fundamentals.

If you love this genre, then you will surely enjoy this movie!! The cast was fantastic, acting spot on, and I really enjoyed the landscape and story line. Patience is a virtue with this movie - Enjoy it like a fine wine.

The movie is great. The plot is great as well as the story. I enjoyed it from start to finish. The actors pace is good though slow at times but sam Worthington gave his best performance as a lead role.
