Different. That's what I should answer when I am asked "what types of movies do I like." Less is more when it comes to film. A movie that keeps me intrigued is my game. No blood, murder, sex scenes, gore are involved. Kind of different.
A pleasant surprise form this delightful and engaging movie. The pacing and direction are superb , the costuming and color choices are exceptional . It took me a minute to settle in and accept what this is. A whimsical comedic take on the life of a life of a lonely telemarketer .The plot and story are familiar yet the delivery was completely unexpected. It's sort of a 'day in the life ' and not a 'beginning middle end ' movie . After circling back to the preview several times, I took a chance. It's a short movie to begin with but it flew by .. The pacing, length and plot interpretation make this unique . I was fascinated that it not only held my interest but by the time it was over everyone in the house was gathered around taking solace from and enjoying this sweet little slice of desert fantasy .
Compared to all other movies that it could have been it isn't much. Not much happens. There aren't many people in it. It's trying to be quirky and whimsical rather than having a solid plot, writing, direction and acting. It's an ok movie. It's certainly not worthy of all the 7-10 scores. You've got to be bloody kidding with those scores. That's like saying out of all movies this one is the best a movie can be? Come off it!! It's a 3/10 at most.
Both female stars were very good at pulling off there characters. Crazy, spiritual, and funny, I wanted the movie to keep on going and hope I can see a couple more movies like this in my lifetime.
I mean it's just so original and so goofy! I remember seeing Napoleon Dynamite the first time and knowing everyone in my family would love it...and they did. Just so different and dry and quirky. This one was too. It made me laugh out loud. Simple story with a very small cast and it works. Did for me anyway.
Not sure what brought me to this flick, but I read some reviews and decided to give it a shot one morning. Definitely not disappointed. I think there are 5 people seen on screen with talking parts, one you might recognize if you saw "Scareface" and a couple other pass byes. Props to the ladies who got this done. Proof that you can do it if you try hard enough. I will be watching for them again.
Napoleon Dynamite + Veggie Tales + Sybil = The Planters. Martha Plant and her friends takes you on quite a journey in this amazing indie film. I enjoyed it start to finish. Weird for all the right reasons.
I enjoyed this movie very much. The characters are kind of quirky. There is a real Wes Anderson vibe. The acting is great. If you enjoy eccentric and hilarious movies, this is for you!
