This is a strangely nuanced little movie that I wonder if it will ever find it's true audience. It's on some streaming services and I decided to watch it with my woman this weekend. I did read some of the reviews and was surprised to see such division between fans and those who don't like this movie. I will admit I was a but lost for the first 2/3 of the movie, but the action and pacing kept me involved. I like movies with a lot of gunplay and a few jokes along the way like John Woo movies or nearly every Statham movie. But then: BOOM! Things start coming together at the end of the second act and things start making a ton of sense. I know this isn't the first movie or story that delves into the idea of reality vs. The perception of reality (eg. The Matrix (just the first one, lol), Inception, What Dreams May Come and others), but I can't say I've found something like this before. It's kind of dark and sometimes a little startling, but has mainstream sensibilities. Hard to explain. Sure, not everything in it is "perfect," but what indie movie, let alone a big budget movie is? I actually went back and watched it a second time a day later and the story has so many weird little details that get dropped along the way, I'll probably need rent it again in a few weeks to try and understand it better. It kind of sticks to you. Overall though, I can't comprehend the hate from other reviewers on here. Perhaps they know and dislike the filmmaker or some of the actors in this movie? Sour grapes? Who knows? For me, I really just enjoyed it and am glad I found it.
Wow!!!! I was curious so I picked up this movie from Walmart on Blue Ray! I had also seen it on streaming and WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!!!
I loved the whole cast! It's engaging for the entire movie! No wasted time or BS scenes!
For such a complicated storyline it pulls together nicely! I was engaged the whole way through the film! Definitely a hidden gem!
I watched the film on Amazon the other night. Loved the action and the acting. You have to pay attention to follow the story like a puzzle. I also liked the leads Sophina Brown, Henry Simmons and Adam G. Simon. Sophina Brown is magnetic and even though he's only in the movie for a few scenes I love watching Henry Simmons. He was great on Agents of Shield too. This was the first time I had seen Adam G. Simon but I thought he was great and made a really good action hero.
This movie kept me focused and glued to Synapse so I wouldn't get lost with the theme of it. I enjoy movies like this that gets you thinking. Charley Boon was amazing! The way he used his eyes and facial expressions for acting was definitely great! He played his role perfectly.
The production values are off, mostly bad lighting. Most of the props are garbage, literally. The acting is wooden and the script is cheesy, in a bad way. The visual effects are straight from "Visual Effects for Dummies". Not even worth a watch, it stinks.
I'm a sucker for a face paced action paced sci-fi thriller! Makes you think that's for sure!
I thought it was just another dirty cop movie at first, but I had my surround sound on and it became a great movie!!! Glad I watched it. It keeps you thinking and guessing. Good concept for sci-fi. I loved the change of scene, angles, and views. The movie gets a 9 for me because it pulls you in 1/3 the way through and builds excitement. Well done!!!
This concept would be great as a full on TV series! I feel like it's a whole world that could exist within its self and really explore some cool ideas!
