I feel bad coming at this film with some negativity. It is a tender and empathetic movie, it looks at a family dealing with an aging grandparent in a sensitive way, the performances are fairly good, and there are some touching scenes. Visually, outside a couple of moments, though, I thought it looked pretty bland. It's a slow movie and that coupled with the static presentation made two hours feel like a lot longer to me. I kind of wished this was a tighter 90 to 100-minute-long movie. I get the pacing sort of conveys a lengthy decline from cancer, and so that could have been the intent, but I was really restless for the final 40-ish minutes of this thing, and I thought the rest of the cinema was. But... people were sniffling a bit during the more emotional scenes near the end, so I think this might've just not been what I was in the mood to watch. Maybe it being snappier would've ruined the mood, and decreased the impact of the final 10 or so minutes. I just think the pacing really lets it down. The premise is simple and there aren't too many characters, some scenes stretch on and on, and I think the inevitability of the outcome plus the runtime and the pacing made me a little bored. And I do feel bad for feeling that way, considering how much others seem to love this, but it's just how I felt. I appreciate how slice-of-life and grounded this was, and I think the actors very much deliver. I wish it had been a little more exciting visually, or just been a little shorter, or simply had a tiny bit more going on; maybe all of the above. And I know it's a different kind of movie, has a different central conflict, and is about a different culture... but How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies still kept making me think of the considerably better The Farewell (2019), and I sometimes found myself wishing I was rewatching that one instead.
Simply an amazing movie!!!

I am so sad. This movie is so good. I was in Math class and cried silently because of this movie. I can't imagine what it would be like if my Grandma died. When I am sad she always with me. Always supporting me and making jokes and Cheer me up. I love my grandma. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 Very Recommended.
makes one to cry
