Finnerty's storytelling--written and performance--is just stellar. I think what struck me was how she managed to make Jennie's devastating situation feel almost aspirational: She's wholeheartedly aware of all the good stuff, even in her darkest moments.
This is a personal and moving film about loss and grief and trying to start over. Well written and acted, the film jumps through time in the main characters story and that kind of storytelling keeps you engaged. It's also funny as hell and has so many great New York actors in it. If you enjoy indie films set in New York, you'll love this one.
A lovely, thoughtful, beautifully realized film. Full of honesty, humor, truth, and some excellent performances by many great NYC actors. Well worth your time.
I found myself laughing more than I thought I could during a divorce centered film! Just like life, this movie is filled with heart wrenching moments followed by side splitting comedy. Finnerty Steeves is an astounding lead actress and screenwriter, and the entire cast nails it in my opinion. This film will take you on a journey, make you laugh (and probably cry)! So well done and so worth a watch.
As someone who watches a large number of romantic films, I give this one an A+.
I absolutely loved this film. It's such a wonderful story of self-discovery after your world is smashed to pieces. Lots of laughs and lots of tears. The cast is amazing. So many great actors playing smaller parts which really gives the film depth. Finnerty Steeves who wrote and stars in the film is simply breathtaking. She plays every emotion in the spectrum with honesty and total conviction. A true tour de force. If you have ever been in love or had love and lost it, I highly recommend you watch this beautiful, quirky, heartfelt film.
I loved everything about this film from the minute it started. The story that was told was somehow so oddly relatable. In the midst of a heartbreaking divorce and the harsh realization that as an actor she is aging, Jennie was somehow able to come to terms with herself and move on and become the woman she had seemingly always wanted to be. The acting by everybody was so good, I loved how New York City was portrayed in the film. The telling of the story made me feel like I was watching a very satisfying Woody Allen film. Highly recommend.
I loved this movie. It was so real and yet funny, sweet, awkward and uncomfortable in the best kind of way. I fell in love with the characters. When it was over, I thought to myself, "Well, that was short. I'm not ready for it to end". It left me yearning for the next chapter. Must see!
