Wow, you can really tell a pandemic is going on with films nowadays. This was just relentlessly depressing. That's "okay" in film, but not if there's no other point to it. Please tell me, anyone, why did film exist other than to watch Chloe Grace Moretz cry a lot? First of all, the title of the film was a miss. Could they just not think of anything else? Second, as is often the case in films of this type, there is little explanation as to "why" it's all happening. "Androids don't like people anymore." Got it. But the real problem with this film was the pacing. The glacial, quicksand pacing. There were about 5 endings to this film, each a long shot of people just staring. The climax of the action happens with 15 minutes left, so we literally get 15 minutes of Chloe staring into the distance wondering what her kid's life would have been like. It's the entire end of the film, what were they thinking?! Awful script, awful writing. What a waste!
The robot get crazy line is totally ok to watch, indeed I think the chase n kill not too enough. The survivor is a pregnant lady who escape from the kill and story turn terribly boring by adding the mother and new born baby separation at the end..... really can't fit in and both storyline put together just not alright, like drinking a soup and put French fries inside.....
Lazy obvious writing, shocking editing, big ambitions on a small budget, the soldiers are bad, the women is pregnant, it attempts to use the awkwardness & misery to build tension. Even hard stories require some hope & light to keep you interested, but this movie just trudges along creating one sad scene after another. The two leads keep doing & saying dumb things to again create tension, so much you get annoyed at the two leads for being so stupid, I started seeing the androids as more interesting. A good example of the movie churn that streaming has created, this is a sad pointless movie.
It's a tale of hope, and loss, and love, and mourning. Of dreams dashed and hopes burgeoning. It's a tale of strength and survival and stoicism and it is told by Moretz at the peak of her acting. I remember her in Hugo as a child and she has matured far beyond what I ever thought she would. She carried and drove the film, and for maybe the 5th time ever I give this an 8. It's a very powerful and strong film with great direction, fantastic score and superlative acting, don't miss it.
All in all good film that manages to convey strong feelings of anxiety also proposing some nice twists. Too bad that the plot is not very original and that in some places it has holes to send it forward, in particular there is a huge screenplay towards the end that serves to keep the plot going which is too big not to be noticed.
This movie starts out as a post-apocalyptic zombie flick, but with androids. It delivers a surprising and satisfying final third. Chloe was completely believable as a struggling mother-to-be, and the acting was entirely convincing overall. Good if you like interesting takes on the android apocalypse. Bad if you need non-stop action.
Ending made me delete my rant and increase number of stars. This girl is amazing actress. Movie is slow, heavy and sad. Story is not new but, the tech, the drama, heavy loss. Sad movie.
