Inspector Ike

I had no idea what to expect when watching this comedy. However, as someone who had to watch Columbo back in the day with my parents, this film is a fond reminder. This film is a soft spoof on all those detective shows and I was smiling from beginning to end as the plot unfolded. I could easily watch this again or watch a sequel. It was nice to watch a simple story told in a casual and amusing way. Inspector Ike and his laid back demeanour as he investigated the case didn't display any great analytical insight. What I loved about the film was how he was under estimated by the culprit, even dismissed but was a thorn in his side, up to the very end, just like Columbo. Really enjoyed this understated comedy but you have to have a certain type of humour to get it.

Mild humor sparsely sprinkled among the bland dialog. Plot hole! Spoiler! Chip could have been holding the remote in his hand out of camera view. Too bad that parodies of Dragnet have been done to death otherwise they could have done that instead of 70's police procedural shows.

10/10 would recommend to any film buff and comedy lover. The film was perfectly cast with smart writing and amazing cinematography. This movie is original not something you see in mainstream cinema nowadays. It dares to be different and excels in those differences. All actors played their roles flawlessly. We definitely need more original comedies like this in cinema. Hope this movie gets attention.
