I thought this movie was gonna bore me. But the acting is intense! I'm a native SoCal, there's some areas in our deserts that you just don't go to unless you're well equip and hydrated. Needless to say, the type of survivalist in this scenario was realistic and as scary. Mischa's character starts off a mystery and without giving the movie away watch how the characters truth prevails. Great watch, now I let the movie play while I'm cleaning house, because the soundtrack is flipping awesome and the scenery is bliss.
Original to get a few different groups together but dumb on multiple parts. Any time you go into the desert you need an abundance of water, food, other communication modes. You wouldn't just have high heels. Some of their decisions made you roll your eyes. Leaving the original site immediately when they did have the guy at the garage expecting them back in two days. Every phone has a GPS that could have pointed them where they needed to go. But a movie isn't made off good survival choices so here you go. Watchable but nothing new.
I was apprehensive about a bunch of spoiled 20 somethings with a female lead, lost in the desert, and a female director. The men in the film were better treated than I hoped. The people still make questionable decisions but decisions weren't insanely stupid. The lead actress was likable also. Not a bad time spent on a rainy afternoon.
I expected this to be bad but it was actually one of the best survival movies I have seen. This reminded me of The Canyon which is also really good. The writing and pacing are excellent. The acting is very good. Nothing in the movie is predictable.
This is a drama, not a thriller. It's a very decent watch. Only nitpicky item: Mischa Barton apparently had a hairdresser and colorist when she was in prison.
Bunch of unlikeable morons lost in desert. Follows all usual tropes and brings nothing original to mix. Poorly acted and executed. Do yourself a favour and skip.
Before I streamed this movie on TUBI TV, I was expecting the usual spoiled brats and misandry, but "Deserted" caught me by surprise. The men and women in this film are a lot more realistic than most films in this category of cinema and the ex con who is looked down on is female. She is actually likable and the when she reveals why she committed murder, I was expecting a lecture on drug abuse or the like. But instead, her revelation opened my ears and I felt more sympathy towards her. This is a good struggle-to-survive movie and after all the horsing around these characters do, you actually begin to feel sympathy for them when they face harsh challenges in Death Valley. Kudos to the female director for not going down the usual path of male-bashing and choosing to respect both sexes, opening the viewer to their struggles over their differences. I hope we see more films like these popping up as we enter the 2020's. We need them.
Pretty good flick, acting good, scenario plausible, especially as the general idea to go anywhere at any time and use mind altering substances has become so prevalent. Wish our government would hurry up and decriminalize or legalize all this stuff. Clear out the stupid and stop them from breeding. LMAO
