I don't know why Alicia Silverstone decided that this is a slapstick movie, but she is pure slapstick. Michaela Watkins is great in her insanity. It is a bit on the Lifetime Channel edge, but it is "based" on a true story - and you have to believe that given it's Los Angeles. Everyone there is a bit out of their mind. They gave an update at the end of the movie and it appears that Judy Small (the real one) got out of prison and her whereabouts are unknown. My question is; How can someone like her be set free on the public - as footloose and fancy free?!! I find that scary. It's a good thing I can't afford therapy.

The movie is just so awkward and all over the place. I'm surprised by the cast at the AWFUL acting that was in it. And it wasn't just from one actor. Every single actor in this movie was horrible. It got a couple laughs (awkward, confused laughs) from me simply because I did not understand what the hell I was watching. I can't give it 0 stars I would.

It's an entertaining movie overall. It moves slowly, and a lot of people with short attention spans won't like that. A lot of the comedy is subtle and/or sarcastic, which I enjoy. Fun fact: There's a blooper in the last scene when the wife is coming into the house through the front door. When she enters there is a cross on the wall by the door. When the camera flashes back to her, the cross is gone.

Movie was more of a lame drama than anything else. It wasn't funny at all, it didn't even try to be. If anything it might've moved more to become a thriller.

I imagine this movie got low ratings from people expecting a comedy, and I can see how those people would be disappointed. But the movie does serve fairly well as a drama. It's sort of like Fatal Attraction in the sense that things start off normal with consenting adults. But cracks start to appear in the veneer and chaos ensues. It's not as compelling as Fatal Attraction but it's still relatively entertaining to watch the situation unravel. It's also interesting to see how the trust and vulnerability placed in a therapist can be misplaced and abused and manipulated. So not a great movie but passable in an average way.
