source: We Couldn't Become Adults
I just wanted to mention the ending, after the credits, because the English subs make no sense so I switched to Korean which has the same sentence structure with Japanese to get it (verb comes last after subject/object) Loosely translated, he basically types "We became adults couldn't" meaning we couldn't become adults, the title of the movie and how we go in to watching it from the start. And deletes the last part which leaves the sentence as "We became adults". Which I suppose explains its lack of closure and anticlimactic finale. Adult life is boring and ordinary, right!? That's how I interpret it at least.

I watched the movie because i like asian movies. I have seen similar movies like drama, so the problem isn't that the movie wasn't action or something. We see a girl in so many scenes, but we don't have a closure in the end. If they had a scene together at least, the movie would be better.
Reminds me of my own life. A film like this really transcends itself in many ways. Thank you. Why such a low rating on IMDB? Well, if you look through the list of most high rated films on this website, you will find super hero and robot action movies...It just tells you the audience here wouldn't get a movie that tells an emotional story.
This is not a not a happy ending film but for all that its melancholy and familiar detail of rose tinted nostalgia it still cant be anymore spot on. With detail and deja vu like resonance for anyone who has had and lost or never found at all, this bittersweet - all to close to home meandering film strikes a chord in a very natural methodical way. You see the influence throughout his life and for anyone who has experienced its like you feel along with him as well and know the longing and churning need to find meaning that may never come. So many times filmmakers will offer that pat hollywood ending but sell their vision short. Not this one and the creators can take an abiding deep pride in crafting something utterly human or relatable though it may not give the resolution so deeply desired. Bravo ... truly Bravo!!
In the end, watching this film is indirectly like watching stories of regret that we experience ourselves, sometimes there are moments when we daydream and far from imagining beautiful memories that become painful and wishing to return to that time, and hope that the moment will last forever.
This movie speaks to a lot of people in their adult years going through horrible work and trying to survive on a day-to-day basis in dead-end jobs and always thinking that they could be great if they ever had the time or resources to pursue their passion. We Couldn't Become Adults is an excellent film and, without spoiling anything, it is aimed at a certain audience. Its a slow film that has a nonlinear plot structure and is entirely about human emotions, what love means, and growing up. Its the kind of movie you have to watch at a certain point in life to get but when you do its really good and works as if it was based on you. If you're a jaded adult who wishes they could do something with their life, then watch the film. If not then watch it with that in mind. I really liked it!
This film absolutely nails it when it comes to telling a story of memories and regret from the perspective of a middle-aged adult looking back on their life. The characters and story are all vividly realistic and relatable to anyone familiar with middle age like myself, regardless of which country you're from. With the slower pacing and deeper story, it may not be a film for everyone, but I for one was completely moved by the subtle and genuine approach and unique narrative structure that really elicits stronger feelings for the characters as the story progresses, particularly at the very end. A real masterpiece of nostalgia, not to be missed.
