The mother was so spooky . Super dope film. I would left the house the first night lol
I've watched a lot of indie films that can't even get the basics right - good quality sound, lighting, general production value that help you suspend your disbelief and focus on the story. This film is pretty well shot and lit, and I thought it really used sound effectively in places to create a scary atmosphere. Horror generally isn't a genre I follow, so I can't say how it stacks up against other films in the genre as a whole, but I genuinely thought it worked while being a solid representative of that genre (all the basic elements are there - the family moving into a new house; the house might have issues; scary things happen)... but good performances and moody filmmaking.
Well shot, interesting plot twists and turns - jumped out of my seat several times - exactly what you want a supernatural movie to do - scare you! The suspenseful tone is sustained throughout, and I found the resolution gratifying. This indie gem shows you don't need gratuitous blood, guts, killing scenes, etc., to scare and thrill the audience. In the vein of The Exorcist and Paranormal Activity. If you like supernatural thrillers, this is a must see.
This indie pic finds creepy unease in a generic suburban setting. After a family moves into a new house, the personality of one member begins to change. Is the house itself haunted? Has the restless spirit of a previous owner been transferred? Although most haunted house stories take the OLD DARK HOUSE route, this focuses on a very Californian setting outside San Diego, and includes the tried and true tropes of the genre such as a Ouija board, a grizzled exorcist, and a basement where something bad is festering. THE EVIL DOWN THE STREET mostly explores transference of evil, and is notable for its atmosphere and increasing dread rather than body count or gore score. I would have liked to see the evil vanquished with a little more difficulty, but, overall, this contained little thriller/horror knows its audience and delivers the goods.
The evil MUST be down the street because there ain't nothin' happening here! I kept waiting. And waiting. And waiting. And still nothing. I hate to say, but all these positive reviews must be fake. Luckily, I didn't pay a dime to see this. The thing I'm out is the time I spent watching this. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna head elsewhere down the street to look for some good evil. Good evil? Is that an oxymoron?
I didn't come into this expecting much, but I guess I should've watched during the day... while it doesn't deliver a lot of jump cheap scares, the fact that it's based on a true story has me up writing a review with the lights on instead of sleeping. If you're into the horror genre I would definitely check this one out!
A fun, intriguing watch with great production value! The characters are well-developed, and the pacing is perfect. Overall, a great film!
This movie is so bad, I do not know where to start. Story is terrible, acting is even worse. The scenes last some 30 secondes, then cut, then next scene start and so on. Nothing happens. Total waist of time. There is a plenty of fake reviews, I gave this movie a chance and that was a mistake. Do not make the same mistake as I didi. Do something else, anything else for 90 minutes.
Movie keeps you in suspense and ending keeps you guessing. You want to know what happens next...
