Radioactive Veteran

Short but well done documentary about a Marine who was ordered to be part of the atomic bomb experiments that they had in Nevada back in the 50's. Remember those old atomic bomb education films that the government put out where you would see soldiers holding up inside these long trenches in the desert, then you'd see the atomic bomb explode and under orders, you would see the soldiers get out of the trenches and run towards the blast! These exercises were to simulate the possibility of ground troops being involved in an atomic war. Sadly in their training films, the soldiers were given all this misinformation, one being that if you're close enough to get radiation sickness, then you'd be burned up by the blast and die anyway. Marine Donald Guy, is one of these solders that took part in these tests and who eventually became sick from the radiation exposure. Donald with the help of his wife Mary seek medical assistance from the VA but are continuously refused, a month before Donald dies and after spending everything they had the VA finally agree to pay for his treatment but nothing else. In this documentary Mary is somewhat of a hero as she's determined to seek justice to what had happened to her husband, and with the help of our other hero, attorney Jonathan Kelly, take on the task of getting that justice from the VA.
