I adore horror movies that are still finding ways to be different this day and age. Alexis writes and directs a love poem metaphor to women everywhere who don't want to have children in a society where they are made to feel like outsiders. The lead actress's performance is absolutely stellar, the writing is great, and the body horror is apt (albeit of a narrow stripe, that will likely go over the head of those who don't enjoy cerebral horrors). If you like your horror movies to be intellectual, Feminist, well-acted, off the beaten path, and just plain interesting as compared to the usual fare, Clock will work for you. I very much look forward to seeing more of Alexis' work in future.

This was actually very well made. I also didn't see any reviews talking about the Jewish aspect. Last weekend was a scary and entertaining movie also about Jews and pregnancy. The Offering. Also on Hulu. I have to remind myself that a lot of Americans aren;t that familiar with Hebrew customs but growing up it was all around me as my Grandmother's best friend and my Mother's neighbors were all Jewish. I grew up eating roast beef with bermuda onion and chicken fat sandwiches on rye bread with seeds. So for me it seems very natural. But for the casual red state movie watcher this movie may have been too much for them to either handle or appreciate. Yes, women are made to feel less that human and of any worth if they opt to not have kids. So the dehumanization aspect works well in this storyline. I really only am posting this review to point out the meaning of the ending. The main character has already DIED when she is idly lying on the rock looking at the fish crawling onto the land. That represents acceptance by her deepest ancestors going back. Something that he Dad said he didn't get when he had bad dreams with all the ancestors visting him. A good movie, deeper than people are giving it credit for.

It's a crude revolt, typical of childish women, who don't admit that time is passing. The film starts from the lesbian premise that not having children is normal. We know it's not, but it seems that the writer decided to show her private bubble to the world. In it, there is a society where women are the most amazing being in the world, men are unnecessary, their sperm is not (yes, you will hear that). The whole movie feels like a childish parade of feminists saying that fetuses are parasites and that it's much nicer to live without having children. But the worst problem with the film and the silly script is not that. It's the fact that in her desire to fulfill the lesbian dream of turning motherhood into something terrible, which is a lie, the writer forgot to create a cohesive and coherent terror. If you're watching this movie lying down, you're going to sleep. And that's the best part of it.

...from the caviar, salmon roe, and chicken eggs to the fish climbing out of the sea. The metaphor here is beyond Dr. Seuss style, you can't miss it. As a sci-fi concept, this would have been amazing. If it were my movie , I would have cut the first scene completely (playground, it added almost nothing, the little it did is a spoiler), and then got more into the "clinic." But it's not and so it went from horror to horrible slow and steady. One thing I'll give, the suspense sucks you in. It's so completely offensive and shocking you want to see where it's going. It's definitely a train wreck you can't look away from.
