This is a glammed up Jerry Springer white trash redneck fairytale. Only positive is the meathead bartender. Does Dermot need money that badly? Who greenlit this garbage?
source: Christmas Is Canceled
Predictable, but still much funnier and better than I expected. The characters were good and the movie was sweet. It is no Picasso, but it was 90 minutes of fun. Okay.
Loved this. It was bonkers. Nothing made sense: not the plot, the character arcs, the conflicts, the romances, the dialogue, the settings, the editing, the music, the ending, or... well, anything. You know that feeling you get when you stare at a strobe light too long? Sick, disoriented, and kinda woozy? Turn that feeling into a feature length Christmas film and you've got "Christmas is Canceled" 10/10 Highly recommended A+ (Plus the guy's a great photographer apparently, so that's cool.)
Absolutely nothing made me warm to any character in this film and the acting was flat. The story was lazily written and the premise was creepy. It MAY have gotten better in the end but I couldn't make it that far. Sucks because I love Hayley and. Janel but they both seemed to be relying on their past characters from other shows to get through this.
Hohoho, here's some christmas trash, I'm sure you wont enjoy unless you're some kind of chritmas whacko. This movie should come with a bottle of vodka, because you'll like the vodka more than the movie, and then the floor more than the movie after you've puked.
I liked it, it's one of the holiday movies I can watch and not feel completely sad at the end of it. You know those Christmas movies where everyone falls madly in love and lives happily ever after, while you, the viewer is single. I mean some of that is in this movie, but not overwhelming so.
This Christmas movie is on another level. Haven't seen any other Christmas movie with this kind of story. Its hilarious, a lot of awkward kind of funny moments. The theme is adult so not for kids.
I watch a lot of not great movies and never hated one enough to leave a review. This was the most disgusting piece of trash I've had the displeasure of sitting through. The tropes are misogynistic and shallow at best. Seriously, was someone working through some old feelings when they wrote this? Perhaps rewriting the ending of their own bad choices? It reads as therapy time. Of course a person would be shocked to come home for Christmas and find a parent secretly dating an old high school classmate. Of course they would feel betrayed. Any human with a modicum of emotional maturity can empathize. Did the lead act manipulative and childish? Sure. Did the parent and new SO also act that way? Yep. So why is the writer so intent on painting the only villain in this as the 'child'? I'm being sold that they should have accepted the news joyfully and immediately welcomed the new SO into the 'family'. Anything less is not only selfish, but bitterly disregards the genetic need for men to be with the youngest, hottest piece they can get. The outdated jokes about rape culture, and reducing men to nothing more than Neanderthals controlled by their genitalia were offensive at best.
A couple of funny moments early on, but then it unravelled very quickly. Creepy premise, incredibly naive writing, but whoever dreamt up the main character has a screw loose ... horribly self absorbed, spoilt brat completely oblivious of what anyone else may be feeling and undeserving of any of the characters around her. Emotions apparently only mattered if they were hers or when she was ready to recognise anyone else's, yet she should be instantly forgiven for being vile. Even when she apparently 'saw the light', the same attitude applied! And dressed up as a Christmas movie??
