Bernie The Dolphin

Living close to St. Augustine and frequenting Marineland and supporting their conversation efforts, I was excited to see the film. The message is very important. It's execution is so bad. Poorly acted. Cheaply made. Painful to watch. Skip the movie and visit Marineland. Although, young kids will like the movie.

This film start with some dolphins swimming and jumping out on the beach scene! As turnout it is a movie about two brother and sister "Kevin" and "Holly" expose the sinister plan of a realtor "Winston" and the mayor that will ruin the dolphins habitat! Winston want to buy the beach's land to develop and the mayor stealing the turtle eggs! Entire film just one intense scene only actually! Holly fell down in the ocean and save by the dolphin "Bernie" after she and her brother accidentally listening to Winston and the mayor conversation! One day Bernie having sunburned and save by a dolphin trainer "Sidney"! After this scene, keep showing us Bernie swimming in a pool with alongside Sidney and Holly! Bored to freaking death! The bonding scene is less intense and overuse! At the end, Holly and Kevin went to Winston office's room to obtain the camera that contain evidence that Winston grab from them previously! Winston broke the camera but luckily Kevin already download the content to Sidney phone! They expose Winston and the mayor act and instantly Winston and the mayor caught by the police! No drama and intensity at all! Lastly, Bernie recover and back to the ocean! That's it! Don't know who give high score to this boring film! Really can't stand it! Definitely not a good movie for me!

I went into this movie sort of expecting it to be a a bit of a 21st century version of 'Flipper'. It isn't. Instead it's a cheaply made, averagely acted, predictably plotted caper movie. There is surprisingly little animal action or underwater footage. There is a strong environmental message, however. It also features one of the most irritating child actors I have encountered in a long time. That's my adult perspective though. Preteen kids will lap this movie up and that's the demographic it's aimed at. At just under 90 minutes in length, that age group won't be bored with this movie. Mine weren't anyway. From that perspective then, this movie is a success and I note that a sequel seems to be in the works, so the producers have obviously done something right.

I was so happy to bring my family to see Bernie the Dolphin last evening at the theater. We loved the movie from beginning to end. Really happy to see a film that touches on conservation and caring about animals... They kids were perfect and so so adorable. Great fun film.....
