This is when Alberto Del Rio made Kofi Kingston pay. In January 2011, Alberto wanted to prove he’s going to win the Royal Rumble by doing Rumble Exhibition. Kofi helped Rey put Alberto into position, hit him with the 619 and Kofi followed with the Trouble in Paradise to win the match. Then Alberto won the Rumble. On Smackdown, Kofi faced Drew McIntyre in an Elimination Chamber qualifier. Kofi got distracted by Alberto on the titantron and Drew hit him with the Future Shock DDT to win the match. Alberto was celebrating his Rumble win and he invited Hornswoggle for the piñata party, who hit Alberto with the stick by mistake. Alberto attacked him, started assaulting him, Kofi appeared and threw Alberto out of the ring. Kofi went after Ricardo Rodriguez, Alberto attacked him from behind, hit him with the stick and caught him with the Cross Armbreaker until the officials stopped him. A week later, Alberto talked about Valentine’s Day and about the things he loves, saying he will win the World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania. Kofi interrupted, saying Alberto only talks about the future. He knows about the past, remembering he attacked him last week. Kofi said he’s already here and it’s his destiny. He took out a kendo stick, went after Alberto, who begged him to stop. Kofi seemed to have stopped, winked at Alberto, started hitting him with the stick, he ran away and Kofi destroyed the set. Then they had a non-title match, where Alberto tapped out Kofi. Next week, Intercontinental Champion Kofi and WWE Champion The Miz met in a champion vs champion match.
