Time travel is the main topic of this anime film. Makoto Kona is a high schooler who finds out that she can time-leap and uses it on multiple occasions, leading to repercussions. The unique take on time-travel is fascinating, and the film is a excellent character development. The films big twist also is very well placed. My only major issue is that the first 20 minutes fall flat and could have been liven up. However, that is my only problem with the film. Overall, 9.5/10
"The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" is an average science fiction coming-of-age story by Mr. Mamoru Hosada which could have been better if it had been a bit less complicated and the character of Chiaki had received more development. The plot is down to Earth, engaging and repetitive after a period of time. It's imaginative and uses the time-travelling idea in a different way (which is unexplained). The animation is neat with watercolour-like backgrounds. The background score is good. The intimate relationship between the three main characters is explored very nicely but only Makoto receives proper character- development.
The name of the movie is fantastic to pull the crowd but more importantly there is a real heart touching story. The story tells us that we need to act when we are in that moment and there is no point regretting over it if you were still and didn't act. The story telling is fantastic I wouldn't say it wasn't the best but really please do watch it, you will not be disappointed. Just to remind it's just a movie so doesn't expect a lot from it but it sure is good on whatever it wants to convey. Makoto is a very free spirited character and does what she likes. She has two good friends. These are some of the most important things a person needs to have otherwise its simply not worth living in this society. The story is of course about time travel but will not bother you much as it is kind of a requirement, there is not much mystery or hype about it so its good thing about the movie. In simple terms please don't focus on time travel but on other aspects of the movie.
This movie is so boring, I was dumb to get my hopes up by reading these reviews. The concept of time travel is very well explored but it's really slow. The emotional scenes weren't getting my heart.
