Just saw this at Horrorama Chicago. I'm a huge fan of escape rooms, so seeing an escape camping trip gone bad was right up my alley. Keeps you guessing through most of the movie. Aloha! Welcome to Hawaii!

No so much "horror" as just interesting (and sometimes fun) to watch unfold. Pros: The premise was great! Paid homage a few classics. The best part of this film was the uncertainty... the protagonist reaches a point where she doesn't know what's real anymore... and neither does the audience! Cons: Somewhat predictable at times. Subpar and unimpressive acting (all around) Relied a little to heavily on the score and jump scares. Overall... as the title of this review suggests... this was a fun horror film.

This is not a dream, this is really happening! Horror, Camping, Riddles,....and drugs. A couple embarks on a make-believe slasher camping trip, very much like LARPing or those zombie survival fantasies. The girlfriend seems hesitant as she's not a horror fan, the boyfriend doesn't really either, he just doesn't seem to fit the profile honestly lol. The outing is a mix of scavenger hunt, mystery solving, and scare tactics...honestly it feels more like playing one of those hidden object games or Resident Evil (To find one half of the coin you must collect the ruby and the emerald, put the emerald in the zodiac sign of the twins, put the ruby under the picture of "The Grey Lady" etc etc) but still something you haven't seen a trillion times in other horror movies....having said that...everything else is. Scary woods....yep blair witchy. People chasing and scaring the hell out of you...yep Houses October Built. Horror movie fans filled with quotes and trivia...yep Scream. Traps where you have to choose who lives and dies, only there's a trick to the lock...yep Saw. It turns out everybody was in on it and this was just to scare the hell out of you...for fun....yep April Fool's Day. But I'll be honest, despite the fact that I was able to predict everything that happened long before it did (from the moment I saw her (Checkov's) necklace, I knew she'd be using it as a makeshift weapon) to the April Fool's Day twist, even to the secondary twist that her boyfriend was a villain. I still found this movie very watchable and sometimes intriguing; despite being a mish-mash of other horror movies thrown into a blender it still somehow managed to gain its own identity and kept me watching without becoming horrifically bored. I probably wouldn't watch it a second time, but I don't regret watching it the first time....not terribly unique but still enjoyable.

Wow what a more to watch out and I loved it the horror flick of mystery of game that had been fun and to find out that was real and was totally blushed away

Role Playing Camp ... or something to that effect. This is a horror themed expedition that goes south. Or does it? And where exactly does it go? And what does it all mean? Can there be too many twists? Maybe it's better not to think too much about it? Yeah let's do that and just enjoy the movie until it comes off the rails (entirely). Maybe that is and depending on your view and if you care how it all is being resolved. You could argue that there are things that make certain characters unlikeable. And there are a lot of things that could go wrong even further or earlier in the movie. But that's what you get when a movie tries to be as clever as possible. It may strike a nerve with some, it may annoy others. Still nicely executed and more than decent

I went into.this with low expectations. I was expecting a cheap B movie slasher flick. What I got exheeded expectations. The acting was decent, it was shot well etc also. This was not just a mindless slasher flick.it was much more. Things here are not quite black and white and it keeps you guessing right until the very end. Its certainly not a 10 out of 10 but It was an enjoyable 7/10.

Seriously, this was terrible. I never stop watching a movie halfway through because I don't like it, but with this I simply just couldn't continue. The acting is extremely bad and I couldn't care less about any of the characters. The character that annoyed me the most was the wannabe-goth emo guy. It's just terrible writing and littered with clichés that aren't even done in a way as a homage to the horror scene. Just skip this, really. It's a train wreck.

This film surprised me by being WAY better than I expected. The concept is great, the "traps" are cool and the double twist at the end is exactly as it should be. The acting is better than most Slasher films and the gore is quite good. You are never quite sure what is part of the game and what is not. Or is it ALL part of the game? Highly recommended for all Horror/Slasher fans.

Rarely will I be this surprised by an ending! I did not see that coming!! I loved all the twists and turns and the story was executed so well by the cast. Preston DeFrancis and the team deserve major praise for their debut horror film. Kudos y'all!
