The Red Sleeve

This is one of my top favorites, not only because of the actors but for obvious reasons that it was too close to the historical facts about King Jeongjo and Court Lady Duk Im (Royal Consort Uibin). I understand why Duk I'm wanted to live life the way she wanted so as not to lose anything but I know deep in her heart she loved him. I feel the pain of King Jeongjo especially after reading the Korean history of his reign and his true, deep love for Duk I'm. Korea's history of his peaceful reign is full of his love for his son and his concubine Uibin, his one and only true love. Emotionally draining especially if you have read the historical facts of their story. The series Dong Yi comes a far second to this because King Sukyong never had the same emotional attachment towards Dong Yi as portrayed in that series. Real facts showed he never cared especially after Dong yi's death. Unlike here where King Jeongjo never stopped loving Duk I'm till the very end.
