I thought the plot of "Poster Boys" wasn't very engaging. The characters are not likable, especially the kid who doesn't act his age. The pace of slow, and subplots don't really go anywhere.
For a low-zero budget film, this is really quite good. The actor playing Al does well to walk the line of likeable and frustrating at the same time. You feel sympathy at several points (hilarious date with drunken Tinder girl, money issues, car trouble etc), but also great annoyance at one person's lack of organisation (failing at a relatively simple job, financial budgeting, immature). The young actor playing Carl is sometimes seen almost reading his lines off screen, but the heartwarming theme of the movie and the acknowledgement of practically no funding tends to override such issues. Overall, an enjoyable movie on what must have been a shoestring budget. Also some decent laughs scattered in there. Al's costume for the fancy dress party is definitely one!
I bought this movie to watch when it first came out at the galway film festival It was so empowering I bought it on sky! Wish we had more irish movies life this Give it a watch.. you won't regret it.
Watched this flick thinking it was another Hollywood flick but then realised its gro EU and hey, we all know the EU makes way better fis than the US.
Enjoyable film for the most part but none of the characters are very likeable, and none of them get much of a redemption at the end either. It's a bit of fun while it lasts, some funny moments, and the actors do well with what they've been given but the characters just aren't very sympathetic. Worth a watch.
These guys are soo good at Making films, with a tiny budget they made this masterpiece happen. Unlike Hollywood we europians have the best cenema.
Another awsome movie from Ireland. We need more movies like this......
This film had the potential to be entertaining and a good quality film. There are some enjoyable scenes and an interesting storyline, however, I cant get away from the fact that the young actor is not a convincing actor. That may sound very harsh considering his age but he is just not accomplished yet although he has some potential. In all honestly his wasn't the only questionable acting. It ruined the film for me. This might not come across with foreign audiences as much as it did with me but honestly I cant recommend this film.
