It's been three years since Emery Simms was wrongfully imprisoned for a murder he didn't commit. Emery's best friend Brandon (Blakemore) and ex-wife Connie (Fox) are now married, running a successful restaurant and nightclub in Atlanta. Their lives change dramatically, however, when Simms is killed in prison and new evidence emerges as to Brandon's role in the framing of his friend. When Emery's estranged brother Donovan (White) enters the picture, he becomes determined to unearth the explosive truth behind his brother's downfall. New motives, deceptions and lies are revealed, but the closer Donovan gets, the deeper he'll get himself into trouble and the possibility of lying in a grave, right next to his brother.

This movie has wonderful plot twists and an excellent story. well worth watching. Motives two has strong characters. I thought it was a great sequel and sequels are not usually something I care for. Ms. Fox does an excellent job as always. This is a strong movie with a great cast. It continues the first motives movie and includes just enough of the first story for someone who didn't see the first one to be able to watch the second one and still understand what is going on but it doesn't rehash all of the first movie with a lot of flashbacks. Just includes the important necessary parts to keep you up to date on the story line.

I love this movie. I've watched it over and over again. It features a certain culture of the bougie life and very relatable. All the twist and turns keeps you in suspense. From the good looking men in suits to the women especially Allanah's fashion in cute mini dresses. The entrepreneurship, fashion, cars and homes. Great acting! As seeming in todays world, Simms was considered a spoiled guy who had it all. He did! A beautiful wife, home and cars to choose of his liking, and a life and best friend with a jealous deceitful inner grudge who was betraying him the whole time. Morgan, who betrayed as a detective who was in on the scheme the whole time. Love it!

I saw the first "MOTIVE" movie awhile ago and don't remember a darn thing, but it was good. Good-looking well dressed well heeled black people plotting on each other. Some pretty-boy, thought he was getting away with something and ended up getting set-up and caught-up. But thats all I remember So getting beating over the head every other scene with them back logging to the first movie got pretty irritating. I mean there were no "Zombies" or "Samuria Swords" or "Spank-Bank worthy love scenes" so I couldn't see watching it again just to know what was going in the second movie. I think the second one would have been better had they feathered it in on the premise of the brother trying to solve his brothers murder. And the suspects just skyfing on each other trying to stay out of trouble. That being said, Micheal White who always plays tragic doomed characters (The Shield / Brick) turned in a good performance as always. William L. JOHNSON made up for his irritatingly over the top performance in the "PLAYERZ COURT".

Even more (no) puns intended - well I reckon that can't be entirely true! As is the fact we get to see the brother of the main character of the first movie. Where was he in movie one ... and I assume you have seen the first one or don't care about the beginning of this movie, that sets up the story - by looking back to the first one. So his brother got into prison and he never really cared - while telling us he cares a lot now (inciting incident that happens at the start of the movie). Suspension of disbelief is imminent and quite important to say the least. There is a bit of nudity and I do like Brian White as an actor. Vivica A Fox is back and she quite the fun. Even though her role is not that much bigger (maybe even smaller?) than in the first one ... even weirder plot if you can call it that though ... I would not recommend it.

Motives 2 is a pretty decent sequel to Motives. I must admit that it wasn't as good as the first one, but it is worth seeing. If you are a fan of the first Motives then you would want to see this sequel to find out what happens to Brandon(Sean Blakemore), Connie(Vivica Fox), Derrick(Joe Torry), and the cop(Mel Jackson). It carries an very interesting story line. There is a lot of dialogue. So in order to figure out the ending you must pay close attention or you will not understand what happens in the end. The producers and writers all did well. Stomp The Yard's Brian White does a stellar performance as Donovan, the brother of Emery(Shemar Moore, who does not appear in this sequel). If you saw the first Motives, then you will certainly be anxious to see what happens next.
