Dr. Choudhary, a man who has accomplished a great deal in a short period of time, made headlines in the international astronomy community recently after being one of only two researchers from across the country whose work was cited by the North American Nanohertz Observatory for Gravitational Waves (NANOGrav) in their gravitational wave research. On January 9, 1982, the first Indian expedition team reached the icy Antarctic continent located in the extreme south of the Earth. The goal of this mission was to conduct scientific research there. This was a big achievement for India. The expedition started in 1981 and the team had a total of 21 members. It was led by Dr. Syed Zahoor Kasim who was then the Secretary at Department of Environment and had held the post of Director, National Institute of Oceanography.
