Just for the record, i'm an old straight Southern Mamaw. Just felt i needed to put that out there for all the haters. This is such a sad look back at a dark time in our nation's history. The battle for the gay right to marry is a puzzling one for me. The hatred that is so evident and focused from the "Christians" who are supposedly defending the institution of marriage, it just makes me ashamed. The fact that these poor folks had to go through such persecution just to try and have the same basic human rights that i, as a straight white woman, never gave a second thought about. It's shameful. It's disgusting and i don't think history will look kindly on those who tried to deny their fellow humans basic kindness simply because they didn't confound to their beliefs. The Bible says we're supposed to love everyone and it's easy to love someone when they look and think just like you do. It's a little more difficult when they're different but we're still supposed to love them, regardless. I wish these "Christians" would've remembered this.
