Marco Antonio Barrera vs Manny Pacquiao I — the night Manny Pacquiao announced himself to the boxing world. 🥊 On November 15, 2003, Pacquiao stepped into the ring with Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Barrera was already one of boxing's biggest names — a multiple-time world champion who had shared an unforgettable trilogy with Erik Morales and beaten Naseem Hamed. Pacquiao was dangerous, explosive and already a world champion himself. But what happened that night changed the trajectory of his career. Pacquiao's extraordinary speed, aggression and relentless combinations overwhelmed Barrera, with the fight eventually being stopped in the 11th round. It was the victory that transformed Pacquiao from an exciting champion into a major international star — and began one of the most remarkable runs in modern boxing history. Twenty-three years later, it's still fascinating to watch just how explosive this version of Manny Pacquiao was. Was this the night Pacquiao truly became a superstar?
