Dr. Phibes Rises Again

Well actually it is the same one. But a new movie he made, playing the character he portrayed before. And the movie even continues exactly where it left off. For those either not familiar with the first one or those who have not seen it in a while, there is a recap with which the movie starts. Now I have not read the novels, as I've already said when reviewing the first movie. So I can't tell you how this differs from the books. It seems weird overall and his motivation is a bit more muddled - when in the first one you could at least understand why he went mad. Still there are some innovative kills, even if they are not as otherworldly as they seemed in the previous entry. The director allegedly was not too fond of many changes that were made and a lot is being explained rather clear. For better or worse that is .. I reckon it was for worse.

Dr. Phibes rises from his grave 3 years after entering and goes on a quest for immortality. This one was about as good as the original, I thought, with another batch of really neat ways to kill folks. Good to see Robert Quarry again; I remember him well from that excellent old film "Count Yorga, Vampire", a real scare treat. This was a fun, funny movie to view, I recommend it highly.
