This movie is awful the main actress is a short haired boy looking girl. I almost threw up a dozen times looking at this ugly short haired girl. It's really a huge turn off watching a woman look like a man it ruins the whole movie. The killing parts were good. Michael Madsen played a good killer. Other then that this movie sucks, at least the girl could have looked like a girl. All the movies in Hollyweird are pushing this feminist agenda bs so they created this ugly short haired girl character. The world is backwards and full of foolishness this movie goes right along with all the liberal dysfunctional foolishness.

Many great low budget films out there, but this is not one of them. It started off ok and then all went to pot with the cult leader Paul. It seemed like the movie was trying to explain itself, but then had several ADHD episodes and didn't make any sense. What was the purpose of the mask? Why that mask? What did it have to do with the cult? Why couldn't she get the mask off, but sometimes could? The character Karma could have easily gutted Wendel. Break her spirit? What? That also didn't make much sense - unless these people escaped from an insane asylum. The storyline was there but poorly executed. Not worth a watch.

A small film with sincere intentions, but fails to live up to its full potential. The film is co-directed by Carlos Montaner and Liz Fania Werner and focuses on Karma, the daughter of a cult leader who murdered 11 people. The film is set up like a "fugitive family" thriller, with Karma and her mother, Sunny, trying to escape the cult and live off-the-grid. The film makes the most of its minimal budget with a strong cast and an interesting storyline, but the filmmaking is often unmemorable and the editing is haphazard. Despite these missteps, the film has some standout performances, particularly from Hannah Christine Shetler who brings an impressive range to her role as Karma. Michael Madsen's portrayal of the cult leader, Paul, is also noteworthy. Overall, "Waking Karma" is a heartfelt film that falls short in its execution, but is still worth watching for its performances and story.
