Under Suspicion

Netflix must have paid Freeman/Hackman large upfront producer/actor fees for this piece of dreck. It is totally unbelievable especially the ending. Freeman/Hackman must be hard up for dough. Won't watch any more of their movies. Netflix will run out of credit if it persists in bankrolling D movies.

Under Suspicion is a delightfully clever thriller mystery that for some reason no-one seems to have heard of. Perhaps it got released at just the wrong time or something but it is very good indeed. Morgan Freeman and Gene Hackman play off each other like the old stagers they are and the suspense is kept up well for the whole program and the twist at the end is suitably poignant. Set in Peurto Rico, this is really a stage-play with most of at action taking place in one office. But don't let that put you off, there are plenty of 'fashbacks' with a neat little device thrown in that I won't spoil for potential viewers. There's not much that I can say negatively about this film. It's a little gen really and one well worth watching.

A fabulously shot intellectual drama! Freeman as the accuser, and Hackman as the suspect are at the top of their respective games; if this had been released later in the season it would no doubt have generated Oscar nominations. This is a well-written taut psychological warfare-type film reminiscent of Hitchcock. No explosions, gun battles, even special effects. The script is manipulative, in that one spends the movie rooting for an accused child-molester and murderer, who ends up confessing. One finds oneself hating several of the "good guys" including Hackman's on-screen wife, who is breathtakingly beautiful, by the way. This is a truly exceptional film that will no doubt get lost in the fray of Arnold's and Brooce's latest "things go boom!" movies. Ah well. This one'l endure.

Only Gene Hackman and Morgan Freeman could save this movie. The acting was great. Sorry I just couldn't get into the story, may be because it never left the police station and it was so slow, and the end was WHAT?

Two of the most great actor of America, Morgan Freeman and Gene Hackman had some memorable verbal fights in this movie, based mostly upon their great performances. The direction (even if you can see the boom every time you want) is very good, made with a lot of disturbing flashbacks, which contribute to complicate the case. Morgan Freeman is great as the disappointed Victor and Hackman gives another memorable performance as the psychically destroyed Harry. Two lions of cinema for a good thriller.

I give 10 for rasing the average rating value of this movie which I believe is underscored. This movie has massage for everyine that a bad intuition without any prove, a wrong intuition can ruine a life forever, can send an inocent man to prison for life. Good movie. Good Gene, Morgan and Monica.

...what kind of boring crap is this? Two great actors wasted in an extremely boring movie.I maybe should have told something about the story,but I don`t remember.It was so boring! It was just talk and talk and talk,nothing more.Director S.Hopkins haven`t gotten anything out of the story.It`s not exciting for one minute! The start was promising,but it went the wrong way. It doesn`t manage to engage the viewer,so it`s a waste of time. Some positive things should come up;the acting.Both Hackman and Freeman are terrific(but that`s not a surprise,they`re always good).French actress Monica Belucci has a small part and don`t manage to impress. This could have been good-but with an another director. Rating 2/10
