This movie really made me realize how difficult parenting can be, and how horrible a life can be for teenagers. This movie really portrays the Problems present today in teenagers that we ignore. The movie is very well directed and will really make you feel it's passion and realistic Drama.

Well I watched this movie mainly because I am a huge fan of Holly Hunter films. Well if I was her I would want my name taken off the credits. This film was just blablabla. The whole idea behind the plot is dumb. Yes I know some kids do crazy things to fit in or to experiment with sex, I did. But I mean the whole thing was taken way out of control, I mean I know the idea is to "scare kids straight", but this film would never do that. Why is it most movies on lifetime are about beating your wife, teen sex, or aids. This movie would have been a lot better if there was a lot more sex and blow-jobs, and if the two girls would have had a threesome with the neighbor, and if they would have been older so my erection would have not been illegal.

I heard a lot of good reviews about this movie and off course I didn't expect it to be a perky sort of movie but after watching it, it wasn't something that I'd rave on and on about. This movie is about Tracey Freeland, a 13 year old who's problems are bottled up inside of her and come out through drugs, sex and violence. Its a sad story about a mother and daughter's downfall and their struggle to live life 'normally'. I was impressed by Evan Rachel Wood and Holly Hunter's performances, you really believed that they were a family. The only problem I have with this movie is that although its trying to make a realistic point of view, I don't know whether it would work on actual teenagers. Because I know that if I watched that movie at 13, it really wouldn't impact on me at all and I would think it was another movie that just portrayed teenagers as a problem. Its probably a movie that you could watch once but that's about it. I'd give it a 6 out of 10

Note to all the kids out there:If you get some funky filters and a script about a good kid gone bad, you can be a pretentious indie filmmaker too. Perhaps it was because the critics built it up so much, or perhaps it was because I was expecting more. Either way this movie let me down. Evie and Tracy were such pathetic characters. We (the audience) never got a glimpse of either one without the other, which leads me to believe that neither character had any real depth. The brother was a jackass. "Sorry Mom. I can't stay for the family meeting. There is a killer swell today. Nevermind the fact that I was the first one concerned about my little sister." THIS MOVIE SUCKED!

Thirteen is an excellent movie. I am 19 years of age and when this movie first came out I was 15 years old. I loved it as soon as I watched it and I ended up buying it. It is one of the first movies that I have seen where a cutter is not looked down on and where the ending does not leave the viewer with false hopes. It is an excellent movie that gives everyone a real insight into a teenage girls life. It shows very well how Tracy has a hard time coping with life, drugs and things at home so she turns to drugs, boys, sex and cutting to comfort herself. This is sad to say but this is how many teens today are learning to deal with there pain by cutting themselves and loosing themselves in drugs. Very excellent movie that will open anyone eyes and leave u sitting in your seat wondering about yourself and your children if you have any.

This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Do yourself a favor; unless your a pedophile or a thirteen year old drug addict do not watch this movie. It is a stereotypical teenage drug move. Teen does drugs. Teen gets hooked. Teen starts to decline in social activities and school work. Teen pushes friends away and drives parents crazy. Teen learns a lesson in life. Character development is horrible and the music is nerve racking. But nothing is worse than the god-awful script. It is by far the most predictable script ever. I hated this movie. I would give it a zero if I could, but since I can't: 1/10
