The least romantic ending to a rom com ever, which ruined the entire movie. Which was also a shame. The lead actors were quite good and they had chemistry together.. The premise was both timely and interesting. The plot, though predictable from the premise, was ok. The movie was funny until the ending. But the ending. The ending was atrocious. By their very nature rom coms require a happy, and most importantly romantic ending. We do not get that here. I think I get what C. Bailey Werner, the writer, director and lead actor, was going for. That is, to be "artistic," subvert the genre, and end with dark comedy. That, however, is not what people are looking for in a rom com. Very disappointing. /
Without spoiling anything these are my thoughts. What I think they did well: Funny Awkward Changed up rom com formula Show how people change personality the longer they're with them. Romance What i think they did bad: Some of the editing cuts were a little poorly made and made the movie overall feel more unprofessional then it needed to be. Like this one scene where I think he leaves her food and she looks over and the way he jumped outta sight just seemed off. Their were some parts I felt like the writing was a little weird and some parts I felt bored because it felt a little slow. Overall: Honestly this movie was very refreshing and did something new and for an indie movie I was very impressed. I didn't think I'd enjoy this but I really did.
Even though it doesn't have much things to see, the movie felt comforting and warm. It was like i was watching a livestream. Decent humour and something like this could happen in the future, so pretty relatable.
Just needed to laugh at the rediclouslesness of what we have all lived through!! I mean,it really.could happen!??!! Cute Film!
I really did try to love this movie because I movie a good rom/com. But this was not enough com and even less rom. That being said I loved the lead guy in this movie. But the woman was just not likable, I am sure they wanted this to be the idea in the beginning. But you would think by the end they would at least make her ok to be in the same room with. That being said this Indy film really did try to be something special and for that it deserves more then just a one or a two. It was just not THAT funny, but if you are bored and have nothing else to watch then ok. Can't help but feel this was a movie with a message about getting vaccinated. But maybe that was JUST me. It is worth a watch though, it has it's charms. I am sure the director will nail it next go around. I'll be waiting...
...atrocious execution. The one you're with tell the story of a man and a woman who get stuck living together after a first date when a national state of emergency strikes. It's a concept with so much space to move, huge potential and high release date relevance. It's the kind of concept that should have made it an instant cult classic. Unfortunately the way the female lead was written can only have someone conclude C. Bailey Werner (aka Chad Werner) has never actually spent any real, quality time with a woman. Every interaction between the characters is disingenuous in the most tedious of ways. Characters have a tendency to change their personalities completely from scene to scene, and there are no consequences from negative interactions in previous scenes. This creates inconsistent, unrealistic characters that are impossible to relate to, and zero stakes to invest the viewer in. The one you're with, is a movie that tries way to hard instead of just being itself. The woke jokes are clumsy or worse go completely unnoticed. A complete waste of your time, and an insult to everyone. Give this one a miss.
Senseless.....pretty dumb.....better off washing the dishes.
This one is a winner! Fun, funny and silly with a genuine emotional core.
Great easy watch, kind of gave me nostalgia for the early quarantine days.
