Its been a long time , since i watched this kinda movie, probably the last time it was early 2000. probably the main theme of the movie is LOVE, HOPE, Happiness and many more. anyhow, very decent and solid performance by Hinds.

You really have to watch to enjoy all the subtle details, especially when there is very little dialogue. Great side stories and side characters

Very charming movie full of allegories and symbols to discover, it hits the bull's eye when it comes to what the soul of a retired man has left to live, when so much is lost in his memories. Positivism and Optimism are the magic words as opposed to suicide. If you plan to leave our crazy society and travel to see the beauty of nature and natural people, don't miss.

I have always been a hard case when it comes to comedy. The artificiality of Nuovo Cinema Paradiso (1988) left me cold. The Holocaust trivialization of La vita è bella (1997) offended me. This film way exceeded my expectations, engaging me all the way along and keeping a smile on my face. What is it? The abrupt disappearance, appearance and transformation of various details indicate an interior or dream narrative. This is a tourist's metaphorical life sojoun, not that of a pilgrim or even a stranger. The great lesson he learns is that sometimes what looks like a menacing gangster crew is really only a Klezmer band. Suffice it to say that now, as an old man, I know what deceased woman's picture would be beside me in that car. A few comments on the film's four-wheeled star. I have driven "old school" rear-engine, air cooled Fiat 500s like that. The absence of its distinctive, distracting putt-putt engine sound enhanced the dreamlike quality for me. (The clash of gears at one point was a nice touch.) Indeed, this was your father's pitiful, feather-light 500, not the regulation-compliant, high-tech replica Fiat 500 of recent years.

Modern youth would say that this film is about nothing. I might have agreed, but in fact, I have not seen such a beautiful film for a long time, just beautiful In terms of cinematic beauty. An excellent light feeling as if in winter during an epidemic I went on vacation to warm countries.

A very nice, entertaining movie. If you're looking for huge action and car chases keep looking. If you want a interesting saga with little dialog this is it. Comedy, drama, love and intrigue, The Man in the Hat has it all. An enjoyable journey with a kind hearted man.

The Man in the Hat is the story of.... I'm not quite sure. We open on the Man having a lovely outdoor dinner where he watches 5 people toss something into the river. He is then chased by these people across the country side. He also has strange encounters with people along the way. From what I could tell, this was trying to be an homage to old silent movies. The actors don't speak (with the exception of a scene or two), and facial expressions are greatly exaggerated to convey thoughts. Some of these scenes are truly funny. Others not so much. I don't want to be overly hard on this movie as there is something there. I just know it wasn't for me.

I had no hopes watching this. It was a total surprise!! A really good surprise. I can see that people say it is like a movie by Tati, there are many similarities. Also I have to say some similarities with Bunuel. It was a movie I could not stop watching. It was pleasant, still surreal, it was beautiful. The music was fantastic! The acting was really good, from everyone. The main character reminded me a bit of Buster Keaton, but a modern one. I think everyone who liked Tati, Bunuel and are open minded to not having much dialog will love this. The pictures and music talked for themselves. Totally blew me away. There was a story in there too, but it was never forced on you, it was a subtle way of telling a story. Never forced. The feeling of this movie was gentle, made me feel good. I definitely recommend this movie!! At least, give it a try, some people might not like it, but for me it is one of the best movies I have seen.

A waste of good cellulose. Dull, ridiculous, with iffy acting on the part of Hines. Some may have thought it might be saved as a travelogue of France. If so, France is a very ordinary place. I know that to be untrue - so they must have purposefully left out anything that wasn't mundane and ordinary. No plot line whatever. Give me Jacques Tatti anytime over this movie.
