The worst Soderbergh movie I've ever seen; in every term. The useless plot, empty and unconvincing characters along with God knows why perfect frames from a distance which rarely serves the plot but mostly bores to death. I expected to happen something or something to mean anything but nothing came up. What was the point of all the artistic fuss which doesn't tell anything at all? It is obvious that the story is not for Soderbergh and in order to tell the story it seems that he chose a very distant and cold style which only serves to show the emptiness and dullness of each character more and more. Avoid at all costs from a total waste of time.

It's not as bad as people were saying. Yes it can get boring but it's a dry indie film, that mostly focuses on conversation rather than action. Sasha Grey has potential to be a good actress, if she wanted to, she just needs better direction when doing monologues. My favorite part of the movie was when she fell for one of her clients. Her character is so naive even when people warn her that it won't lead anywhere meaningful. I wish they would have done more with that. Instead she ends where she began, nowhere.

oh dear oh dear oh dear oh dear Sasha grey maybe great when pretending to enjoy sex with several men at once but I'm afraid this film hinges on her performance and as a novice actor she fails big time. shame i could always see what they were trying to do with the film but the execution was just very "indie". So what were left with is a terrible film with a non ending .The obama election background is pointless the clumsy parallels between the prostitute and the gym instructor were far to obvious to be effective and the film felt like a big giant downer not an informative or beautifully done downer just a dour boring unchallenging tour de force of badness oh dear oh dear oh dear oh dear

but not good. Don't bother if you're looking for "quality erotica" or something bridging the gap between * and a "real film". The film tries to be serious, and address a topic with some seriousness and psychological-mindedness, and for that should be commended. Having said that I found the film to be somewhat disjointed i.e. I had a hard time figuring out how things in the plot were related. (Of course you can always hypothesize that that was the director's intention, that your viewing experience is meant to mirror the confusion of the main character, but I don't think that's how things actually work. I could be wrong, of course.) :-) Sasha Grey's not a bad actress, but don't hold your breath for the next Meryl Streep. I'd be curious to see her portray someone in a non-sexualized role. Also be aware there was a movie released in 2008 entitled "Girlfriend Experience", it's something different.

Yes, to those who are fans of transformers and the like, this WILL seem dull. It is experimental film-making, NOT a traditionally told drama that the brainwashed have come to expect. This film is like eavesdropping on the gradual (and yes, slow) change in an escort's life. Different than most, yes. But captivating and hypnotic. If more director's attempted material like this, you wouldn't hear people complain that every summer it's the same thing. This is a welcome change from a director who never does the same thing twice (with exception of Ocean's 11 and its sequel). Does it have car chases, excessive violence and nudity? No. There, saved you some time. Now go and rent Charlie's Angels.
