I was pleasantly surprised by this film! The subtle quirky humor, the cinematography and the lead actress all make it worth a watch. It looks really impressive for a low budget feature. Would recommend!
What an original idea! This movie is ethereal meets casual quirky. The story is both visually and emotionally moving... And the cast! Perfection. Can't wait to see more.
I'm a big supporter of independent film fests which is how I came upon this delight. My one constant feeling throughout was how real the main character is. I found myself very engrossed in the story and captivated by the genuine performance. If this was her first production I forsee great things ahead.
The Florist was a feast for all the senses. Subtle and nuanced performances have been paired back with a soundtrack that feels so effortlessly right and styling that makes you want screenshot, save and use the imagery as inspiration for your mood boards. It's a high concept film which keeps you hooked and Rebecca Murphy's performance is a stand out with a subtle comedic energy and boldness. Overall, a fantastic indie film that is definitely worth a watch!
Good news! I found a movie that is a brilliantly sublime satire; "The Florist". The fact I like it so much makes me wonder though. It made me realize satire, from one person's perspective, probably seems like the depiction of a genuine life full of "right" decisions, but surprisingly unexpected consequences, to another. To the first person, the consequences are neither surprising nor unexpected. And the absurdity about it, which is what I enjoy the most, is in the thread they used to stitch fortuitous outcomes to the daisy chain of ill-advised decisions. So much of life seems to be exactly that way for so many people. And, staying true to my grandma's phrase; "what's good for the goose is good for the gander", a movie about my life experiences could be satire for someone else. Hopefully not this awesome though. But there is that wondering I mentioned earlier. Person unknowingly watching a satire of their life trajectory: "Hey! Wait a minute. I don't get it. What is so funny about this?" Other observers: "Ha! What?... That's hilarious you moron." And there are some really chill grooves in the soundtrack. I'll look for the full soundtrack online. And that is an incredibly hilarious sequence depicting the classic comedic scenario: How they envision it versus what we see. For the record; that is not my rave experience. Sadly, my mind doesn't get that bent on anything I've ever ingested. But it would be awesome to see the video if it did. Bad news: If most people don't see this as a satire (if this is a fairly accurate depiction of their reality), we could be screwed and I feel sorry for those kids. Repeated Question: "Are we there yet?" Previous answer: "Not yet, we're almost there." "Now sit back and be quiet." Current answer: "Yes, the drive is finally over." "The pandemic has delivered us all to crazyville."
I utterly adored this film. Satire at is finest. Funny, charming and so easy to watch. Rebecca Murphy is sensational. Highly recommended to anyone looking for an easy, delightful film. Seriously made me miss LA. AND THE styling omg! Whoever dressed this film, I need them in my life.
Yes it's an indie film. Yes the budget was obviously small. Still just..... bad. Unnecessary shaky cam, or out of focus shots. The American accent was awful. I don't think the lead is American? Strange editing, story didn't go anywhere.... it's just bad.
I was quite surprised by this one. Going in my expectation were quite low as it becomes obvious in seconds that you're watching a very low bugget movie. But the cinematography is quite interesting. The acting is not bad either. And the plot shows a depth beyound expected as well. I think it's a decent, respectable effort, very much woth watching.
