After a somewhat promising beginning, this movies settles down to being merely a spelunker's nightmare. This is one of the rare times when the T&A steroid was seriously missed by this viewer. One way to describe this movie would be as a rip-off on Fantastic Journey without R.Welch, without the science fiction and without a clearly defined purpose. The production values gives the viewer continuous hope that something really exciting is about to happen. To the extent that death can be exciting, or possession by something evil, supernatural, alien etc. one is endlessly strung along until, guess what? The movie is over. A very difficult thing to watch to the finish, whatever it was.
No plot No horror - the monsters are very rare indeed LOL Bad story How do they manage to make a horrofilm with absolutely nothing interesting in it? I wonder. And Lena Headey in this mess too. (This review is based on the first 41 minutes before I switched it off - a waste of time) Stay away.
Thank heaven I only saw it as a free preview, I would have been plenty angry if I had paid to see it. This film was a waste of time, a rip-off of "Alien", "Mimic" and "The Relic". The mini-subplot where Tyler is hitting on Catherine early in the film right there was a sign that I would be better off if I had walked out of the theater at that point. The characters were such jerks that even if something bad happened to them, I wouldn't feel any pity. The action sequences were so fast and the cinematography was so dark, it was impossible to see what was happening. The film insults us at the end by suggesting that a sequel is in the works. Save your money and don't contribute to that possibility.
Although the acting of the actors and actress are slightly blunt, but the best part of the movie is actually the beautiful scenery of the underwater tunnels and caverns. Both these parts are given full credit by me and I think most of the critics in IMDb that gave worst credit to this movie does not even know how to criticize and give credits to movies since they are SO BASED ON STORYLINE, PLOTS, ACTING and forgot what a movie is all about. When giving comments and points to a movie, one should not just watch these basic points, one must explore it's every aspect, such as the job done by it's camera crew, lighting crew, sound technicians, and background and scenery. I just don't think this movie deserved such low credit...so I give a 10 point to boost up it's credit
The only good thing, along with the sexy female explorers (Piper Perabo and Lena Headey), is its being set and shot in the middle of fantastic caverns. Apart from that it isn't scary at all, almost nobody is convincing in his acting, humour and personality are lacking, so what to save in this flick? It shouldn't be that difficult to make at least a B-grade movie, a few laughs and some thrills(considered the genre) would be enough.. well, none of these requirements was satisfied. This cave, in spite of the original Romanian mountain, isn't worth being explored, I'm sorry for the first-time director Bruce Hunt but he could do better, rather than focusing only on the impressive sets..
This one is fun and clever. Has a unique resolution and the monsters are bloody bonkers. Worth a watch! and some surprisingly ok acting...
The whole movie taken in dark cave...divers trapped in cave and they tend to escape from cave and strange animals...little scary when u watching alone..
When I watched this movie it was the first of its kind with a plot like this, a few days ago I watched another movie like this but I don't remember which was out first, "the decent" is the title, I hope I find more like this.
