Will (Vincent Bombara) goes camping with a few friends for his bachelor party. He is set up as the "final girl." In a subplot Jeremy (James Quinn) and Hailey (Jess Uhler) are out scouting a doe trail. We also see a cannibal family who ties people up and then kills them. At about 45 minutes after we thoroughly dislike all the characters, the subplots come together. This film missed out on the norms which make cannibal hillbilly films good. They did not have a chainsaw. Will should have been a member of the family bringing in fresh meat. Or maybe the cop would be involved. Plot spoiler: no of that happens. The ending was dull. No twists. Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.
Three friends are going into the woods for camping. They get into a fight with a local couple who they accuse of being rednecks. That's before they encounter the cannibal true rednecks. The actors are amateurish. The filmmaking is amateurish. The production value is fine for a low budget indie. This is more akin to a student film. These folks obviously watched plenty of horror movies but they don't have the skills to pull it off. The actors have no charisma and the filmmaking has no flair. The jump scares are done all wrong. This is almost like a blank. It's a movie that exists but has no substance.
The movie was ok for a low budget indy film. Mama and Haley were good. The others were alright.
I tried, but couldn't even get halfway through this movie..! It's just really bad..
I liked how this movie took it's time to set up the dynamic of the characters without it feeling rushed or plodding. The plot plays with a lot of tropes but the early work it puts into them makes every surprising twist feel earned with nothing coming out of left field. The sound effects and editing were subtle and terrifying, carrying the dread and suspense in some scenes in ways I often only see in video games like Last of Us. You can tell this movie comes out of a lot of love for films like Last House on the Left, The Hills Have Eyes, and You're Next. So if you like those, you'll definitely enjoy this one.
Made it through 15 minutes. Terrible script, worse acting, would have paid money to get those 15 minutes of my life back. Stay away-AWFUL MOVIE.
Not even any decent t&a. So bad I'm lost for words.
Going into the theater, COVID-era theaters, I was pumped with excitement that the local AMC wrapped each individual piece of popcorn in plastic. Seeing The Boonies brings back memories of my youth, when my aunt took me to see Star Wars. The original Boonies was a masterpiece, and this movie does not disappoint. An edge-of-your-seat picture that had me riveted. The plot, the rising action and resolution did not disappoint. Throughout the movie, I was glued to my seat in anticipation of what would happen next. Go see the Boonies, I'm headed out now, mask, gloves, bubble wrap at the ready.
Excellent Horror film! "The Boonies" will have you on edged. A Must See! Proud mother of Actor Daniel Johnson one of the outstanding cast member. The cast did an excellent job!
