To catch is to intercept and hold something which has been thrown. It’s a skill that requires both timing and reflexes but it offers an opportunity to turn your opponents offense into an attacking option. The other two definite methods of defending kicks are blocking and evading, but I think the catch is the best when it comes to risk reward ratio. Like with anything there is a risk reward factor so lets delve into the pros and cons of catching kicks. From technical femur fighters like Saenchai, power punching Muay Mat stylists like Liam Harrison, to K1 Kickboxing and Muay Thai legend Buakaw, all Thai style fighters are proficient in catching kicks!
