Bret Lada's character was sincere and I found myself rooting for him to achieve his career goal. Andy, had some oddities (some inadequate social cues) and was trying hard to build a relationship with his half brother. Both actors were excellent but everything led up to the ending, like watching a train wreck coming.
The Andy Baker Tapes is what make short independent films so vital. It proves that one doesn't need a huge budget or crew to make something so fun to watch. The two leads have a natural rapport which builds up suspense without spoiling the climax. Natural lighting, guerrilla photography and public locations without actually seeing many people only adds to the overall creepiness of what is essentially a road trip movie. Concise and darkly funny, this is something to definitely check out.
I was hooked from start to finish at the festivals I saw this film at! The characters so charming and engaging, and the chemistry between the two is fantastic! Highly revommended watch, especially for fans of found footage!
Suspenseful and funny! I thoroughly enjoyed this thrilling movie and I would highly recommend to friends and family. Both actors were great, and I really enjoyed how unexpected the ending was.
From the first few scenes, The Andy Baker Tape draws you in as a fresh and compelling take on the thriller film genre that at first does not seem even remotely to be one. You quickly find yourself, however, not only immersed but hooked by the eerie adventure unfolding as Internet food blogger Jeff Blake and his recently discovered half-brother Andy Baker cruise mostly resort and rural New Jersey roads, sampling and touting the cuisine of some of the well-frequented local eateries. As the road trip progresses, you will want to join the newly bonded but increasingly off-beat duo at their make-shift picnic tables, which could be the hood of their car or a seagull invaded landing, while they savor the tastes and aromas of the plentiful and delicious roadside fare. After the food is consumed, however, the discards prove to be much more disturbing than just empty and abandoned take-out containers.
Unexpected twists and turns hallmark this fascinating and intriguing drama .
Image-savvy Youtube food-vlogger meets his long-lost brother. Things get tense when they begin to clash. Suspense all the way through, and a thrilling end!
