Taxidermia is an acquired taste, filled with visceral dismemberment, explicit sex and psychological sickness. But while many will complain about these portions and quickly consider this another controversial gore fest, It is actually a rather incredible film. It's beautifully shot, incorporating never before seen shots and a very distinct style. Its nicely acted and also has some of the best black humour I have seen in a long time. The story seems rather weak on first viewings but after several re-watches, patterns emerge and some clever political satire pokes through, questioning modern life and what talent is. All in All, Its a film that deserves praise, but is quite unlikely to ever see it.

I never write about movies, but this is the one movie that has truly made me feel sick. I credit it as a work of art, it is brilliant in that sense, but on a personal level, I am left more disturbed than thrilled. I gave it a 4... and I was being generous. I cannot fathom why someone would want to watch this movie more than once. I watched it knowing what I was getting myself into, and out of curiosity but I was not expecting what came up on screen. I don't recommend this film to anyone... even though it is beautifully filmed and at the highest quality... you have to have the stomach to watch it. I don't think that it was funny at all either... some people have said so.. but i honestly didn't think any of it was funny.

I will give this is a strange movie, and it might be because it's Hungarian, so the methodology for their horrors may be slightly different from American. I don't want to spoil anything and I will say it's not my kind of movie, but I did like that fact that thanks to QI, I understood one of the scenes where a lady and a doctor are staring at a frog. I do find it interesting how it follows the lives or more then just one person. That's generations it follows and it does express the depression professionals sometimes feel when their field of expertise is no longer appealing to the public eye. That being said, I have never understood speed-eating, but that's cause my gag factor tends to kick in easily. And trust me, this movie will pull on it at some point.

I'm not expecting this kind of movie, because watching it without knowing anything about it, is the decision. "Taxidermia (2006)" is not your typical comedy horror movie, the story tackles the real events when you're sexually frustrated and the life of "competitive eaters". Overall, it was a good movie and I thought this movie is not for everyone, because of its unusual content. But it gives me a new perception in these kinds of movies.

Bored with blockbusters? Watch this to remind yourself why you love movies. A breathtaking, unpretentious, off the wall, artistic masterpiece shot with meticulous attention to detail reminiscent of Jean-Pierre Jeunet mixed with a little Guillermo del Toro with a sprinkle of Brothers Grimm. Imaginative visuals and superb acting throughout, especially Marc Bischoff's touching and nuanced performance as Balatony Lajoska. A feast for the eyes, ears and imagination. Take it at face value and enjoy like a fine wine. Then watch again. Not for everyone, but thats what makes it great.

Taxidermia is one big fun hell of a film and it is one of most weirdest and most funniest films i saw in its genre,in this film there are three stories that are connected to each other and they blend in with characters are story very well, now lets move on to some humor ,i mean it is off the charts here, some scenes were really funny like scene with chicken and you know what and staff when they vomiting and eating in second story, third story was also very funny but the most disturbing to me cause it have some good creepy imagery and interesting visuals, when i would rank stories,it would be 3.about fat people,2.about pervert and 1.about taxidermist

Taxidermia will shock, upset, disturb and make nauseous all but the most sturdy and unflappable cinema viewer. However, it will also make you laugh, smirk, and smile. It does the whole spectrum of emotions as you are taken from through three generations of a family with varying degrees of humanity and all with a similar obsessions over flesh (be it sexual, personal, that of others, etc). I cannot vouch that it will be a revelation to all, and some will see it as very base cinema, but I think you need to look beyond the excess, and take it with a pinch of salt. It is superb production, it is at the very height of tastefulness and tastelessness, but pulled together so effortlessly and seamlessly. More please!!!

there are some films that you watch and recognize that it is good, but your insides are screaming - this is horrible. that pretty much sums up the entire experience of this film. if you truly enjoy yourself watching the film, really love it in the moment, then i think you missed the point (and probably are kinda scary and desensitized). but after your stomach stops turning, you are left with a film that has pushed past the regular or expected, into a space of unique social and political commentary. As disgusting as this film is, and it is by far the most disgusting thing i've ever seen, it absolutely has to go that far to shake people up.
