Taxi

This movie is a very good movie if you have a really bored day. It is lightening to the existence. As they say; "A good laugh makes the life longer!!!!" /Mike

If you are looking for a tongue-in-cheek action film, this is a good choice. With nice driving scenes and a waferthin plot, this film serves its purpose: to entertain without increasing your heart rate. Nevertheless, the pace is good and the film does not portray itself as the greatest action film since Terminator. The love story with Emma Sjöberg is actually the only part of the story which degrades this film to a near B-movie status. If they had replaced that with more serious action, it could move closer to Ronin.

Well its taken me roughly one and a half years for me to purchase this and at £5.99 i couldnt refuse. So get home, plug it in. Read the subtitles and have to say was pretty much gripped. Yes the storys not up to much, but the 2 boys are just that...BOYS. They never grew up. This film is any modders dream. The scene where the guy wants to go to the airport. Magic. The profiles, the spoiler...is there any more. Yes theres very french influence (Pergeot 406 against Germans), but to be honest after a while it ends up being quite english. France V Allemand = England V Germany. So saying that if you go in with an open mind theres no reason not to come away feeling fuller. 8.5/10

If you want to watch a film that is not going to require much thought or concentration, then watch Taxi. The film is a very simplistic and has little complexity in terms of plot and characterisation (the characters are little more than stereotypes and the ending is an anti-climax) and you can tell the screenplay took about 10 minutes to write, but it is one of the most enjoyable films I have seen for some time. It is still very 'French' and is an easy way into 'foreign' cinema for those of us who speak no other language than English. I watched it in the same evening as 'Z' by Costas-Gavras, and found both films very similar in style (so Gallic!!) Taxi is not the best film ever made, but you can easily escape with it for an hour or so.
