Jo Bob Briggs, himself, would endorse this. I haven't seen a comedy-horror like this since The Final Girls and that one didn't even contain 10% the humor of this. I laughed so hard, I thought this would never turn to horror...and I was right. Sure, this is gory as all Hades and there were maybe a handful of sincere and effective jump scares, but this is pure comedy with a ton of horror nostalgia that you really have to be in the know to appreciate 90% of this film. Luckily...I'm the target audience. Also, funny, I truly thought this was going to be an extremely low-budget comedy-horror with the biggest emphasis on the humor and not special effects. Or they'd be all CGI - really bad, cheap CGI and I'd still like it for the laughs. NOPE. When the first scene involving gore needed to be shown, they went 100%. I was THOROUGHLY impressed with the amount of practical effects and how extremely convincing they were. This would rival any huge budgeted Hollywood movie. Besides, Hollywood WOULD skimp as they always do and just use terrible CGI to save bucks. These masters DID NOT SKIMP. NOT ONE BIT. The story's kinda hard to explain, but this is an anthology of horror shorts surrounding not one, but two wrap-arounds. I pretty much loved every one of the stories, probably the video store and other "I'm in a movie!" wraparound the best. Weakest, but still good was the feminist one. Not that I'm against girl power feminism, it was marketed as such, literally. And even then, that one wasn't that bad. I truly laughed so hard, the comedy was non-stop, one joke after another. I don't even think my favorite comedy of all time, Airplane!, had this many jokes. And just like the aforementioned The Final Girls, I wanted to buy this immediately on Blu Ray. I did for that other movie, but sadly, this isn't available anywhere for purchase! Huh! It's available on Shudder. Just, I'm not one to rewatch movies over and over too soon. I like it to sit awhile in my memory like a fine wine. But, I might have to see this again very soon. It was fantastic. *** Final thoughts: ALSO helps, the men in this movie, probably 75%, are all incredibly gorgeous. Everyone was a fine actor, male and female, so they didn't just hire these guys/gals on looks. But, damn, I don't think I've seen any anthology in my life with this many talented and hunky men.

I just watched Scare Package last night and wished it wouldn't end... yes, it's that good. This has EVERYTHING you look for in a horror comedy. The writing and acting made this movie a definite future cult classic. It supercedes most big budget horror films currently in theaters. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE MAKE A SEQUEL!!!
I really appreciated the way this film worked hard to turn its B-movie budget into a strength. When you're making a horror comedy and you can't afford theatrical-release-worthy effects (or actors), what do you do? You embrace the cheese! This movie is very self-aware, making no attempt to be anything other than it is: a crazy clever hodge podge of at least a dozen classic and more traditional horror films...a movie about movies in which they watch several movies before ultimately becoming part of a "movie"! (You read that correctly; quite meta. You'll have to watch to get it lol.) Bottom line; if you have an open mind and you're not an outright film snob, give it a watch. You just might be pleasantly surprised, as I was!
I don't know you but I ever would watch a movie with that poster. Come on, is a graphic rip-off so if they do that in an insignificant mischief with the print marketing pieces, what can you expect with the screenplay, directing and or acting. I won't waste my time so 1 is my rate. NEXT!!!!
I loved it! What can I say? I'm a sucker for horror movies and the spoofs that go along... Not really for the number of Scary Movies per se. However I really liked this one! I laughed alot! Super cheesy! Super fun! yeah!
I was lost watching this movie. Seemed not to understand what they were saying. I understand it was just a scary movie mixed with comedy but nah it's not worth watching!
The problems with anthologies is that one is as bad as it's worst short story. If your worst story is good enough, you're probably into a good anthology. But this is not the case. I enjoyed the first one although I expected a lil more. The goo one I found it the most funny, even made me lol, which is weird in me, but I like horror comedy and silly gore when done right. The last story was entertaining at parts, at other's a lil cringey. The midle stories were avarage hit or miss. So even if I give it a 4 for it's worse stories, I'd recommend it if you feel like watching a really silly horror movie, with some good and some bleh stories, with some meta commentary about horror and jokes about it but expect silly acting, lines, expressions and gratuitous gore (which isn't that bad).
Storyline is a mess, not scary and barely bloody. 5.8 rating is fake. My comment is real, not fake.
