As said in my summary this one is not a comedy is pure satire of: celebrities - star system - hollywood - thirst for gossip - fame and the madness it can cause A good and interesting movie, with powerfull Pacino successfully carrying the load. Worth seeing...
This is the best film about Hollywood since The Player. It's lighthearted and funny, while raising serious questions about the nature of reality in a medium that relies on public acclaim as the only measure of success. Al Pacino, Catherine Keener, Winona Ryder, newcomer Rachel Roberts and the rest of the cast put in stellar performances--there are no weak links. This is destined to become a classic. Be sure to sit through the credits for the bonus scene at the very end.
I am vaguely appalled that this movie has such a low IMDB score. I have resolved that it is either down to the movie being targeted at the wrong market (who, after seeing it, quickly logged on to IMDB to whinge about how it wasn't the romantic comedy they paid for), or that too many so called "intellectuals" from the likes of MIT, etc decided they would pan the film simply because they are pricks with nothing better to do. Either way, this is a vastly underrated film and I am glad I made the effort to see it.
