This movie could have been better. The entire movie was filmed way to tight on everyone's faces. There was no room for developing characters through body language, or making it seem realistic with background sounds and character extras. The characters didn't really get screen time together because it dashed back and forth on tight frames while they performed dialogue. There was no room for any further development, we could have seen better character development if we saw how they interact with each other or see the things going on around them. This would have make the film more realistic. I feel like the actors weren't to blame for the choppy feel of the film.
Sadly this movie is a real flat liner. Characters are shallow, uninteresting, and there is no arc. Story is bland. As far as bringing God into this, I can only say trite, trite, trite. This script should have been turned down for lack of...just about everything.
A little light on character development. A family friendly film with some very good music.
Bad acting, terrible script with a cliche story. What's most annoying is this movie makes my hometown seem like a bunch of overly religious rednecks with bad accents. No one in or from Smithville says "Smithville" that many times in a conversation.
This is pretty much a lifetime movie missing a background story, skipping allot of the behind the scenes and the ending leaves you with questions. Too much going on. Good singing.
Does anyone know if or where I can watch this film from UK I'm wanting to watch it ! HELP
Nothing stands out in this movie. The storyline is predictable, the actors not great and it fails to keep your interest. Not recommended.
This film's investors and their relatives or friends. This movie is actually so badly scripted, directed and acted. A weak storyline, got nothing important enough to say, I just saw some bimbos and weak male actors who acted just like some electricians or plumbers came to your house to fix something, they don't have any passion for their jobs, just do what their company's dispatcher assigned the jobs to do. This is such a completely unnecessary movie, more like a gossipy tabloid story, so hollow and so spiritless. My wife tried to watch it for about 10 minutes, then simply bowed out. She said to me: "I don't know what's the purpose of making this movie, my eyes are watching it, but my mind is elsewhere. It's such an uninteresting movie even worse than those made by Lifetime Channel and on par with the Hallmark movies".
Good music. Good acting. Good story. Janelle Arthur, an American Idol finalist, is a pleasure to watch on the big screen. Her singing is fantastic and the title song, RUNNING FROM MY ROOTS, is one that gets stuck in your head. Head over to Amazon and rent this one for the family.
