الفيلم يلقي الضوء عن الادمان بمفاهيمه المختلفة، وكيف يغير حياة الأفراد، وليس إدمان المخدرات فقط، بل أنواعا مختلفة من الإدمان. الفيلم سلّط آرنوفسكي الضوء على أربع شخصيات تجمعهم أحلام أرقتّهم ولم تتحقق: ثلاثة شبان يعانون من إدمانهم للمخدرات وسيدة عجوز تعالج وحدتها بالجلوس أمام شاشة التلفاز. الأمر الذي يجعل طموحات كل منهم وآمالهم تتغير وتتحول، بل إن إدمان التلفزيون يقود البعض لإدمان العقارات.

This is the kind of movie you never forget. Your glad you watched it but wish you didn't. I love these types of movies where you think... what the $&#* did I just watch? It's how you do a lot of ideas and concepts well in a film and it ties together well.
