I gave this 30 minutes and then bailed. Perhaps this was filmed in too much of a rush -- as a result of a very limited budget? -- but the vast majority of the actors seemed like they'd just learned their lines and were yet to really inhabit their characters. The story itself seems pretty boring, judging by what happened in the first 30 minutes, so this film has nothing to recommend it.
The story itself feels rushed, too much going on that doesn't link together. I usually enjoy low budget films especially Christmas ones, and this one was going "ok" but nothing disturbed me more then the background music playing on every single scene, happy music in the background doesn't fit for someone getting fired from his job. Also, with the music being too loud at times makes it hard to hear what the character is saying when talking. So basically because of the ongoing background music in most scenes I had to call a quits on this movie and not finish watching it at the 30minute mark. There was nothing wrong with letting the cast do their thing acting without background sounds ..... a little goes a long way.
How great it was to watch a Christmas movie with a cast that is "real" without all of the fake smiles. Also enjoyed the fact that there was no Christmas pageant, no town square tree lighting and no fake romance with characters who have absolutely no chemistry. This was just a good down home Christmas movie.
